This is a nice warm-up punch. I like to serve it when there is a nip in the air. The aroma of the apple cider, orange juice and spices is wonderful as the punch simmers in the slow cooker. -Susan Smith, Forest, Virginia

4 cups apple cider or unsweetened apple juice
2-1/4 cups water
1 can (6 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
3 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
Orange slices and additional cinnamon sticks, optional

Steps:

  • In a 3-qt. slow cooker, combine the apple cider, water, orange juice concentrate, nutmeg and ginger. Place cloves and cinnamon sticks on a double thickness of cheesecloth; bring up corners of cloth and tie with string to form a bag. Place bag in slow cooker. , Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until heated through. Remove and discard spice bag. Garnish with orange slices and additional cinnamon sticks if desired.

3-1/2 cups apple cider or juice
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cinnamon stick (3 inches)
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 cups orange juice
3 cups unsweetened pineapple juice
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 medium orange, cut into wedges

Steps:

  • Place cider, sugar, cinnamon stick and nutmeg in a large saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 20 minutes., Stir in orange and pineapple juices. Insert cloves into orange wedges; add to cider mixture and heat through. Discard cinnamon stick. Serve warm.

2 navel oranges, sliced down the middle
10 whole cloves

Steps:

  • Pour the cider in a dutch oven pan, 1/2 at a time.
  • Put on the stove on simmer.
  • add 2 cinnamon sticks.
  • add the navel orange slices.
  • add 5 whole cloves.
  • you may not like it like this, you might have to add 1 or 2 more cinnamon sticks or more cloves.
  • Yummy on the wood stove also.
  • Take off Heat after approximately 10 minutes.
  • Serve.

1 medium lemon, cut into wedges

1 teaspoon whole allspice
Cranberries, lemon peel strips and additional cinnamon sticks, optional

Steps:

  • In a 6-qt. slow cooker, combine cranberry juice, apple cider, lemonade concentrate and lemon. Place cinnamon sticks, cloves and allspice on a double thickness of cheesecloth.
