Cooks Notes: You can use any citrus you have around at the time but is worth a couple of extra dollars for some heirloom varieties.

1 cup brandy
1/2 cup orange liqueur
1/4 cup sugar, super fine
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 pint raspberries
1 lime, thinly sliced
1 lemon, thinly sliced
2 bottles sparkling wine or cava, chilled

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher, combine the brandy, and orange liqueur. Pour in the sugar, stir or shake the pitcher thoroughly to mix until the sugar dissolves. Add all the fruit at once. Add the cava and serve as is or on ice.

This is my sixth attempt at re-creating a sangria my friends and I enjoyed at a Pennsylvania inn. We all agree it's as good as-if not better than-the one we remember!-Pam Mele, Franklin, New Jersey

Number Of Ingredients 20

3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
1/2 vanilla bean, split
SANGRIA:
1 package (12 ounces) frozen unsweetened strawberries
2 medium peaches, peeled and sliced
2 medium kiwifruit, peeled and sliced
1 can (11 ounces) mandarin oranges, undrained
1 jar (10 ounces) maraschino cherries, undrained
1 can (8 ounces) unsweetened pineapple chunks, undrained
1 medium orange, thinly sliced
1 medium lime, thinly sliced
1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
2 bottles (750 milliliters each) dry red wine
2 cups orange juice
2/3 cup orange liqueur
2/3 cup Cognac or brandy
1/4 cup lemon juice
3 tablespoons lime juice
1 bottle (1 liter) carbonated water, chilled

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, water and vanilla. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 3-5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat; cool to room temperature. Discard vanilla bean., Divide the fruits between 2 large pitchers. Add the wine, orange juice, liqueur, Cognac, lemon juice, lime juice and vanilla mixture. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Just before serving, stir in carbonated water.

1 pound strawberries, sliced
2 cups blueberries
1 cup orange liqueur
2 tablespoons superfine sugar
3 oranges, sliced thin
One 750-milliliter bottle prosecco

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher or drink server, combine the strawberries, blueberries, orange liqueur, sugar and oranges. Stir to combine. Top with the prosecco and ice. Serve.

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 limes, sliced thin
2 small carambolas (star fruit, available at specialty produce markets), sliced thin crosswise
1 chilled 750-ml. bottle dry white wine
1 chilled 12-ounce can mango nectar
1 mango, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 chilled 12-ounce can ginger ale
1 chilled 750-ml. bottle champagne

Steps:

  • Reserve some of the lime and carambola slices for garnish. In a large pitcher stir together the white wine, the mango nectar, the mango, and the remaining lime and carambola slices. The sangría may be prepared up to this point 1 day in advance and kept covered and chilled. Just before serving, stir in the ginger ale, the champagne, and ice cubes and serve the sangría garnished with the reserved lime and carambola slices.

2 oranges , chopped
2 pears , chopped
2 lemons , 1 chopped, 1 juiced
200g red berries , chopped (we used strawberries and cherries)
3 tbsp caster sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
ice
750ml bottle light red wine
100ml Spanish brandy
300ml sparkling water

Steps:

  • Put the chopped fruit in a bowl and sprinkle over the sugar and cinnamon, then stir to coat. Cover and leave to macerate in the fridge for at least 1 hr, or ideally overnight.
  • Fill a large jug with ice. Stir the macerated fruit mixture to ensure the sugar is dissolved, then tip into the jug with the wine and brandy. Stir, then top up with the sparkling water and serve.
