Easy Cabbage Casserole image

This is a quick and easy recipe and is so delicious! This cabbage casserole is a favorite at family reunions and church suppers. Even the kids love it!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 small head cabbage, shredded
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 ½ cups Italian-seasoned bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mix cabbage, Cheddar cheese, onion, cream of celery soup, and butter in a large bowl. Mixture will be dry. Transfer to a large baking dish, spreading vegetables evenly; sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Cover baking dish with aluminum foil.
  • Baked in preheated oven for 45 minutes and remove foil. Continue baking until bubbly and lightly browned, about 15 minutes more.

1 medium head cabbage
4 tablespoons margarine
1 pound lean ground meat
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
Tony's Creole seasoning
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1 cup steamed rice
1/4 cup bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Cut cabbage into small chunks. Boil in salted water in a medium pot until tender, but still green. Drain and reserve the liquid. Melt margarine in a deep skillet, and fry ground meat with onion and garlic until brown. Add Tony's Creole Seasoning. In a large bowl, mix cabbage with meat, adding mushroom soup, green onions, and rice. Pour mixture into greased, flat baking dish. Top with bread crumbs. If you think the casserole is too dry, add some of the water from the boiled cabbage. Bake at 300° for 20-30 minutes.

Steps:

  • Layer ingredients into casserole starting with the onion, crumble raw hamburger over the onion and continue down the ingredient list.
  • Bake covered for 1 1/2 hours at 350°F.
