SHRIMP TERIYAKI

A savory and sweet dish that is sure to impress your company. My husband always tops his with soy sauce, but I enjoy tasting the little hint of sweet.

2 tablespoons olive oil
40 uncooked medium shrimp
2 cloves crushed garlic
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
⅛ teaspoon ground ginger
⅓ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
½ cup white wine
3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce, or more to taste
½ cup teriyaki marinade
2 (16 ounce) packages frozen deluxe stir-fry vegetables
2 cups hot cooked white rice

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a wok over medium heat. Add shrimp, garlic, garlic powder, and ginger. Cook until shrimp are opaque, 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Add brown sugar and sesame seeds. Blend in white wine, teriyaki sauce, and teriyaki marinade and bring to a boil. Add frozen vegetables and return to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook until vegetables are heated through and tender, 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Serve stir-fry over a bed of rice.

1 lb cooked shrimp, 36-40 count
24 ounces broccoli
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons cornstarch
16 ounces linguine

Steps:

  • Prepare Teriyaki Sauce: Combine soy sauce, water, molasses, corn starch, garlic powder and Chinese five spice in a sauce pan and simmer on low until thickened.
  • Prepare Broccoli: In sauce pan covered with water. Bring to a boil and immediately remove from heat let stand for 2 minute and drain.
  • Place shrimp in a bowl with very hot tap water and let stand for five minutes.
  • Prepare linguine per package directions.
  • Place sauce, broccoli and shrimp in a large medium high fry pan, cook for two minutes.
  • Add linguine and toss reduce heat to low and let stand for five minutes.
  • Serve.

8 ounces chinese noodles, broken
1 lb medium shrimp, shelled, deveined and uncooked
1 tablespoon gingerroot, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
3 cups fresh broccoli florets
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded, finely chopped
1 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon cilantro, finely chopped

Steps:

  • Cook noodles as directed by pkg. instructions.
  • Meanwhile, spray wok with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Heat over high heat until hot.
  • Add shrimp, cook and stir 3 minutes.
  • Remove shrimp from wok.
  • Add gingerroot and garlic to wok, cook 30 seconds.
  • Add broccoli, jalapeno and 1/4 cup of the broth.
  • Cover and cook 1 to 3 minutes or until broccoli is crisp tender.
  • In a small bowl, combine remaining 3/4 cup broth, fish sauce, and cornstarch, blend well.
  • Return shrimp to wok, add cornstarch mixture.
  • Cook and stir about 1 minute or until sauce is slightly thickened and shrimp are pink.
  • Stir in cilantro.
  • Serve over noodles.

8 ounces angel hair pasta or 8 ounces other thin pasta
1 1/2 lbs uncooked large shrimp, peeled and deveined
5 teaspoons olive oil, divided
1 bunch broccoli, cut into florets
2 tablespoons chopped garlic
1/2 cup butter
6 tablespoons white wine (optional) or 6 tablespoons chicken broth (optional)
grated parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/4 teaspoon pepper (optional)

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions.
  • Meanwhile, in a large skillet or wok, stir-fry shrimp in 3 teaspoons oil for 1-2 minutes or until shrimp turn pink. Remove with a slotted spoon and keep warm.
  • Stir-fry broccoli in remaining oil for 3 minutes. Add garlic; stir-fry 2 minutes longer or until vegetables are crisp-tender.
  • Add the butter, wine, salt and pepper.
  • Drain pasta; add to skillet.
  • Stir fry the pasta and vegetables until the butter is Melted.
  • Add the Parmasan Cheese (I used at least 1/2 cup).
  • Stir fry until pasta is coated.
  • Stir in shrimp.
  • Stir fry until everything is coated -- I kept going until there was a bit of crisp crusts of cheese on some of the pasta and shrimp.
