TANGERINE-GINGER CAIPIRINHAS

Steps:
- Divide tangerines or small oranges among 6 tumblers. Add 2 teaspoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon grated peeled ginger to each glass. Crush the ingredients in the bottom of the glass with a muddler or handle of a wooden spoon. Top each drink with 2 tablespoons tangerine juice and 1/4 cup cachaa (Brazilian sugarcane liquor) or vodka. Fill glasses with ice cubes, stir, and serve.
TANGERINE CAIPIROSHKA
This traditional Brazilian drink prepared with cachaça gets even better when it's made with a very sweet tangerine, also called mexerica in São Paulo Recently tried this. The bartender told me it's similar to a Caipirinha, the only thing different is substituting the cachaça with Premium Vodka. The technique is just like making a mojito.... use a wooden spoon if you don't have a muddler ;)

Steps:
- Peel the tangerine (careful not to get the white pith) put it in the glass. Sprinkle with the sugar and crush the pieces with a pestle (or wooden spoon).
- Add the vodka and stir to mix. Add the ice and stir again.

Steps:
- Cut the lime into small chunks, then put it into the bottom of a sturdy tumbler and add the golden granulated sugar. Crush really well with a muddler - you can also do this with a pestle and mortar.
- Top up the tumbler with crushed ice, then add the vodka. Stir well to mix all the ingredients together, and serve.

- Using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon, lightly crush lime and sugar in a 16-oz. mixing glass or a cocktail shaker to release juice (press limes just firmly enough to release juice but not bitter oil from the peel). Stir until sugar dissolves. Add vodka.
- Fill an Old Fashioned glass halfway with cracked ice. Pour vodka mixture over ice, then pour entire mixture, including ice, back into mixing glass to gently mix drink. Return to Old Fashioned glass.
