4 Ingredient Sweet and Tangy Chicken is a go-to chicken recipe using common ingredients and is one of the most popular recipes on Syrup and Biscuits.

Number Of Ingredients 4

8 chicken thighs (You can use a whole chicken or other parts. We love thighs the best. And we want them on the bone with the skin)
1 package dry french onion soup mix
1 8 oz bottle Russian dressing ((I prefer Wishbone Russian dressing))
1 small jar of apricot preserves ( or about a cupful)

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients, except chicken, in a bowl.
  • Place chicken pieces in a baking pan. Sprinkle with pepper. No extra salt is needed.
  • Pour sauce over chicken and make sure it's coated well.
  • Roast uncovered at 400 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes until chicken is done. Baste several times during cooking. This is the way the chicken will look when done.

180 - 220 g / 6 -7oz chicken breast
150 g / 5 oz mixed lettuce leaves ((or other of choice))
1 cup cherry or grape tomatoes (, halved)
1 small cucumber (, sliced)
1/4 red onion (, finely sliced)
1/2 large red chilli (, deseeded and very finely sliced (Note 1))
1/2 cup roasted cashews (, unsalted preferred)
1/4 cup coriander / cilantro leaves
1 tbsp finely chopped coriander/cilantro stems ((see video))
1 1/2 tsp Chilli Garlic Sauce ((Note 2))
1 small garlic (, minced)
1 1/2 tbsp fresh lime juice (or rice vinegar)
2 tsp fish sauce ((Note 3))
1 tbsp canola oil ((or vegetable, grapeseed or other neutral oil))
1 1/2 tsp sugar ((any, I use white))

Steps:

  • Take the chicken out of the fridge 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Boil water in a saucepan. Add chicken, put the lid on, let the water come back up to a simmer, then remove from stove. Set aside for 20 minutes (even up to 45 min is fine). (Note 4)
  • Remove chicken from water and shred, then cool.
  • Place ingredients in a jar. Shake well. Taste and adjust as required. It should be a balance of tangy / sweet / salty / hint of spice. (Note 5)
  • Place Salad ingredients in a large bowl. Drizzle over most of the Dressing, toss. Serve immediately, drizzled with remaining Dressing.

1 bottle (18 ounces) barbecue sauce
1 can (20 ounces) pineapple chunks, undrained
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
Hot cooked rice

Steps:

  • Place four chicken breasts in a 5-qt. slow cooker. Combine the barbecue sauce, pineapple, green pepper, onion and garlic; pour half over the chicken. Top with remaining chicken and sauce. , Cover and cook on low until a thermometer reads 165°, about 5 hours. Thicken sauce if desired. Serve the chicken and sauce with rice.

Steps:

  • Fill 3-quart saucepan two-thirds full of water; heat to boiling. Empty pasta mix (from Suddenly Salad box) into boiling water. Gently boil uncovered 12 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain; rinse with cold water. Shake to drain well.

1 broiler/fryer chicken (3 pounds), cut up, skin removed

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • In a 3-qt. slow cooker, combine onion and garlic; top with chicken. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, chili powder, lemon juice, basil, salt, pepper and pepper sauce; pour over chicken. Cover and cook on low until juices run clear, 4-5 hours.
