Steps:
- Sift or stir together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Melt and cool the butter or margarine. Beat egg whites at high speed until stiff but still moist. Beat egg yolks in separate bowl at medium speed about a minute and then add the milk. Add dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed until blended. Scrape bowl while beating. Add melted and cooled butter. Beat in only until blended. Fold in egg whites on low speed or by hand. Bake in preheated waffle maker. Makes 4 full size (four-section) or 8 smaller waffles.
SUNBEAM WAFFLES
I bought a working 1950's Sunbeam Waffle Iron (80 square inches of waffle!) at an estate sale, and found the original insert with the recipe online. The addition of vanilla makes these waffles perfect.

Steps:
- Beat egg whites until stiff, and set aside.
- Beat egg yolks for one minute; add milk and vanilla, and beat for one minute longer.
- Add sifted dry ingredients, and beat only until mixed. Pour in cooled, melted butter until throughly blended.
- Fold in egg whites.
- Pour 14 oz. of batter in center of grids.
- Cook until golden brown.
TENDER AND EASY BUTTERMILK WAFFLES
An easy waffle recipe that results in a nice crisp outside, and tender middle waffle. I love the results this gives while not having to separate the eggs and take time to whip egg whites! These will also reheat in the toaster for a quick work day breakfast.

Steps:
- Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl until evenly combined. Whisk buttermilk and butter together in a separate bowl; add eggs. Stir buttermilk mixture into flour mixture until just combined and batter is slightly lumpy; add vanilla extract.
- Preheat a waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Pour enough batter into the preheated waffle iron to reach 1/2 inch from the edge. Cook according to manufacturer's instructions.

- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar and baking powder. In another bowl, lightly beat egg yolks. Add milk, butter and vanilla; mix well. Stir into dry ingredients just until combined. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into batter. , Bake in a preheated waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions until golden brown. Serve with strawberries or syrup.
