Strawberry Jello Pretzel Salad is a very tasty, old fashioned dessert that is so easy to prepare and that everyone loves. It consists of three different layers. The first one is made of crushed pretzels, sugar and melted butter and it´s baked for 10 minutes. Then, the second layer made of cream cheese, sugar and cool whip comes. For the third layer you will need strawberries, strawberry jello and water.

PRETZEL CRUST
2 cups Crushed pretzels
3 tablespoon Granulated sugar
3/4 cup Unsalted butter
CHEESECAKE FILLING
8 oz Cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup Granulated sugar
8 oz Cool whip
STRAWBERRY TOPPING
3 1/2 cups Strawberries, sliced
6 oz Strawberry jello
2 cups Boiling water

Steps:

  • Start with preheating the oven to 350 F and spraying a 9 x 13 inch pan with a non stick spray. Set it aside.
  • To make a pretzel crust, you need to melt butter and sugar in a pan, using medium heat and then add crushed pretzels and stir.
  • Next, press the pretzel mixture at the bottom of the pan, that has already been prepared and bake for 10 minutes. When it´s baked, take it out of the oven and leave to cool completely.
  • In order to prepare a cheesecake layer, use a medium bowl beat cream cheese with sugar at medium speed until it becomes smooth.
  • Then, fold in cool whip and spread over the cooled pretzel crust. Leave it in the fridge while you are preparing strawberry topping.
  • When making strawberry topping, start with combining strawberry jello and boiling water, stirring until the jello is completely dissolved.
  • Leave it at a room temperature, for a while to cool completely and then add sliced strawberries and combine.
  • Spread the mixture over the cheesecake layer and leave to cool in the fridge for 3-4 hours, until the jello becomes solid.

Crushed pretzel crust topped with sweet-creamy cream cheese layer and strawberry jello loaded with strawberries.

2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup butter (melted)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 packages strawberry Jello (3 ounces each)
2 cups boiling water
2 packages frozen strawberries (10 ounces each, sliced/thawed)
8 ounces frozen whipped topping (thawed (Cool Whip used))
8 ounces cream cheese (full fat, softened to room temp)
2/3 cup granulated sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400°. Add the pretzels to a sturdy zip top bag then crush using a rolling pin or mallet then add to a medium size bowl.
  • Add the melted butter and sugar then press into an ungreased 9 x 13 baking dish. Bake 10 minutes then cool completely.
  • Add the whipped topping, cream cheese and sugar to another bowl then beat until smooth. Once the crust has cooled completely, even spread the cream cheese layer over the top. NOTE: be sure to spread the cream cheese layer all the way to the edges. This provides a seal so the jello doesn't reach the crust and make it soggy.
  • Dissolve the jello in boiling water in a bowl. Stir in the strawberries and allow the jello/strawberries to thicken slightly then pour over the cream cheese mixture.
  • Refrigerate until firm - usually 4-6 hours.

1 (8 ounce) container Cool Whip Lite (thawed)
3 cups sliced strawberries

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Mix crushed pretzels, margarine and brown sugar and press into 13" x 9" pan.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Mix cream cheese and sugar until well combined.
  • Fold in cool whip.
  • Spread over cooled crust.
  • Place into refrigerator.
  • Mix 2 cups boiling water with jello until dissolved.
  • Add strawberries.
  • Chill until jello begins to set.
  • Pour over cream cheese/cool whip.
  • Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

2 cups boiling water

Steps:

  • Crust: Combine pretzels, butter, and 1/4 cup sugar. Press into 9" x 13" baking dish and bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Cool to room temperature.
  • White Layer: Cream together cream cheese and 1 cup sugar.
  • Fold in Cool Whip. Spread over pretzel crust.
  • Red Layer: Dissolve gelatin in boiling water.

9 ounces pretzels, crushed
3/4 cup melted margarine
3 tablespoons sugar
8 ounces cream cheese
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
9 ounces Cool Whip
6 ounces strawberry Jell-O gelatin dessert
2 cups boiling water
16 ounces frozen strawberries, thawed

Steps:

  • Mix pretzels, margarine and sugar in a pan and bake at 350 degrees for 10 min.-let cool.
  • Cream sugar and softened cream cheese together.
  • fold in cool whip.

4 cups strawberries, hulled and cut in half
1 cup ice cubes
1/4 cup whole unblanched almonds
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons almond-flavored liqueur, such as Amaretto
2 teaspoons slivered unblanched almonds, for garnish

Steps:

  • Place strawberries in an airtight container or plastic bag and leave in the freezer for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Remove strawberries from freezer. Place half of the frozen strawberries in the jar of a blender. Add ice, whole almonds, sugar, milk, and liqueur and as many more strawberries as will fit. Blend until there is enough room to add more strawberries. Add remaining strawberries and blend until smooth and spoonable. Divide among 4 serving dishes. Garnish with slivered almonds and serve immediately.

We had this growing up, so nostalgia wells up again! Make sure to use the thinner pretzels, because the big fat ones don't crush down as much as you're looking for. TIME DOESN'T INCLUDE REFRIGERATION TIME!

2 c crushed pretzels
3 Tbsp sugar
1/2 c unsalted butter, melted
2 pkg (8 oz ea) cream cheese, softened
1 c sugar
8 oz container of cool whip
6 oz package strawberry jello
1 1/2 c boiling water
16 oz package frozen sliced strawberries

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix together the pretzels, 4 tablespoons sugar and melted butter. Press into the bottom of a 10 inch spriingform pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Set aside to cool completely.
  • 2. Beat together the cream cheese and sugar until no lumps are left. Fold in the Cool Whip. Spread over the COMPLETELY COOLED crust. Make sure you spread completely to the sides of the pan, to keep the jello layer from seeping into the crust. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
  • 3. Meanwhile, make the strawberry layer. Stir together the gelatin mix and boiling water in a medium sized bowl. Add the frozen frozen strawberries, and stir until they thaw and the mixture is partially set. Put the bowl in the fridge for another 15-20 minutes until thickened but not completely set.
  • 4. NOTE: If your frozen strawberries are whole, this recipe works better if you slice them before adding to the jello. They should be easy to slice, even when frozen.
  • 5. Spoon the Jello layer over the cream cheese layer. Refrigerate until completely chilled and the jello is fully set. This will take at least 1 hour.
  • 6. Right before serving, remove the sides from the pan. If desired, you can decorate the top with whipped cream and a sprig of mint.
