STEAMED GREEN BEANS WITH ALMONDS

Steamed Green Beans with Almonds image

An easy and elegant vegetable for a special meal.

Provided by Marsha Gardner

Number Of Ingredients 7

Ingredients

2 lb fresh green beans, trimmed and halved if desired
1 Tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
1/4 c almonds, slivered
2 Tbsp butter, unsalted
juice from 1 lemon (to taste)
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 Tbsp fresh parsley, minced

Steps:

1. Steam the green beans until tender, about 10 to 15 minutes.
2. Heat the oil in a saute` pan and add the almond slivers. Saute over medium heat until lightly browned, about 2 minutes.
3. Add the green beans and butter. Turn of the heat and give it a squeeze of lemon juice. Toss together and season to taste with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with fresh parsley.

Make sure the beans are patted dry, then add to a large skillet along with oil. Saute over medium heat 1-2 minutes. Add garlic, salt, pepper, brown sugar, and almonds.
Saute 10 minutes or until green beans are easily pierced with fork. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
