HOMEMADE HOT DOG CHILI (+VIDEO)
The Best Homemade Hot Dog Chili is made with ground beef, garlic, beef broth, tomato sauce and seasonings (no beans!) So much flavor!

Steps:
- Put a couple tablespoons of vegetable oil in medium sauce pan.
- On medium-high heat, saute onion until translucent, then add garlic.
- Stir for about a minute, then add ground beef.
- As beef begins to brown, use a potato masher to grind up the beef into small bits.
- Once brown, add in the rest of the ingredients (if your beef produced a lot of grease, you may want to strain some of that out first before adding the rest of the ingredients).
- Give it all a good stir to combine then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes.
- Do a taste test at this point to see if it has enough salt.

- Cover the ground beef with water and break up the meat completely. Next, add the beer (if using), diced onion, Worcestershire, ketchup, hot sauce sauce and spices and start on Medium High to bring to a rapid boil.
- Reduce and simmer. You can cook it down faster if needed on a higher temperature, just until most water is reduced. Stir occasionally.
- When water is reduced, add tomato paste to thicken. Stir to incorporate.
- Serve as a hot dog topping.
- Leftover chili sauce freezes well.

- Place enough water in a pot to cover your beef. Take handfuls of the beef and submerge in the water, smooshing it up with your hands. Add seasonings and stir.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and boil gently for about an hour. Ladle off grease from the top. Remove chili with a slotted spoon to put on hot dogs.
- Freeze leftovers for your next cookout!

- Place ground beef in sauce pot over Medium heat.
- Crumble the beef as it begins to cook.
- Cook beef until browned. Drain and discard any grease.
- Add the water.
- Add the salt.
- Add the black pepper.
- Add the chili powder
- Add ketchup.
- Stir and let simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Add sugar.
- Add vinegar.
- Stir again and let cook until chili reaches desired thickness.
- Enjoy!

- Put all ingredients in a small sauce pan,stir well.Bring to a slow boil,I usually set burner at med.low.Cook at least one hour,I cook mine for two hours usually.
- A note about the meat,if you use plain hamburger it will be a greasy chili,which I prefer, if you don't,use ground chuck, or ground round.

- In a dutch oven or heavy bottom pot, brown ground beef. When the meat is no longer pink, drain excess fat and add onions to pot, stir. Add in garlic, tomato paste, chili powder, salt, pepper and cumin and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add celery salt, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, tomato sauce, honey and ketchup, stir. Add in water. Bring chili up to a boil then reduce to simmer. Cook for approximately 30 minutes sauce has thickened. Remove from heat and let cool 15 minutes.
- Using an immersion blender, carefully blend chili until meat chunks are broken down. *You can also use a regular blender, making sure to blend in small batches to avoid getting burned.
- When ready to serve, heat chili either on stove or in a slow cooker. Can be stored in refrigerator for 3 days or frozen up to 3 months.
