These slow cooker baked apples make a delicious autumn dessert -- with the added bonus of making the kitchen smell delicious all day!

4 large apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
½ cup raisins
½ cup brown sugar
⅓ cup water
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves

Steps:

  • Combine apples, raisins, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a slow cooker; mix well.
  • Cook on High until soft, about 4 hours. Serve in bowls with cooking liquid poured over the top.

4 tablespoons butter
6 cups granny smith apples, cored and cubed
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon molasses
1 teaspoon salt
2 (12 ounce) cans great northern beans, undrained
2 (12 ounce) cans pinto beans, undrained

Steps:

  • Melt butter in skillet; add apples and cook until tender.
  • Stir in sugars, ketchup, cinnamon, molasses, and salt.
  • Add beans, mix well. Pour into slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on high setting for 2 to 4 hours.

This is a slow cooker recipe, though it can be easily adaptedbybaking it or over the stovetop method. Makes for a great vegetable side dish. Oven baking time I do not have.

4 tablespoons butter
2 large granny smith apples, peeled, and cubed
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon molasses
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (24 ounce) can great northern beans, undrained
1 (24 ounce) can pinto beans, undrained
ham, chunks (optional)

Steps:

  • Melt butter in skillet. Add apples and cook until tender.
  • Stir in brown sugar, and sugar. Cook until they melt.
  • Stir in ketchup, cinnamon, molasses, and salt.
  • Add beans and ham chunks, and mix well.
  • Pour into a slow cooker, or a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Cover `and cook on high for 2-4 hours in the slow cooker.

1 pound dry great Northern beans
8 cups water
4 ounces diced salt pork
1 cup chopped onion
½ cup molasses
⅓ cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • The night before, combine the Great Northern Beans and water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, and cook for 1 1/2 hours. Pour beans and their liquid into a bowl, cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • In the morning, drain off liquid, reserving 1 cup. Pour beans and the reserved liquid into the crock of a slow cooker. Stir in the salt pork, onion, molasses, brown sugar, mustard and pepper. Cover, and cook on Low for 12 to 14 hours. Stir before serving.

1 large onion, chopped
3 tart apples, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup ketchup or 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
1/3 c packed brown sugar
1 package cocktail or smoked sausage (my favorite is Hillshire Farm's Turkey sausage)

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients in sloop cooker. Heat on low 3-4 hours.

4 tablespoons butter
2 large cooking apples, cubed (3 cups)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup catsup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon molasses
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, melt butter, add cubed apples, and cook until tender.
  • Add brown and white sugar, stir and cook til sugar disolves.
  • Stir in catsup, cinnamon, molasses and salt.
  • Add beans and mix well. Pour mixture into a 2 quart casserole.
  • Bake in 400 degree oven for 1 hour.

1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
3 slices bacon, chopped
1 1/2 lb boneless beef chuck ribs
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
3 cans (16 oz each) baked beans

Steps:

  • In 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker, mix onion and bacon. Top with beef. Pour barbecue sauce over beef.
  • Cover; cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours.
  • Remove beef from cooker; place on cutting board. Cut beef into 1/2-inch pieces. Pour juices from cooker through strainer into small bowl, reserving onion, bacon and 1/2 cup juices. Return beef, onion, bacon and 1/2 cup juices to cooker. Stir in baked beans. Increase heat setting to High. Cover; cook 40 to 50 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
