CRUNCHY COLESLAW RECIPE WITH RAMEN
Try this slightly untraditional coleslaw with a sweet-and-sour dressing, almonds, and Ramen noodles. It's full of flavor and crunch.

Steps:
- Mix sugar, oil, vinegar, and pepper together to make the dressing. Use a small container you can shake to mix to make it easier to transport later.
- Toast sesame seeds and almonds. (I do this in my microwave for 1-1/2 minutes on a paper plate. Stir once.) When cooled, put into a zippered plastic bag if not eating immediately.
- Put a whole brick of Ramen noodles with seasoning packet into a quart-size zippered plastic bag. Use a rolling pin to crush. Store in a bag until ready to assemble the salad.
- Place coleslaw into a salad bowl. Cover with plastic wrap. Bring salad dressing container, nuts, and crushed Ramen noodles with you to wherever salad will be eaten.
- Just before it's time to eat, add nuts, Ramen noodles, and dressing to the bowl of coleslaw. This recipe is best fresh and crunchy.

To be honest, this slaw is not just for the holidays, serve it all year long. So, you ready... Let's get into the kitchen.

- Peeled apples are the type of fruit that will turn brown when exposed to air. The best way to prevent this from happening is to toss the diced apple in a teaspoon or two of lemon juice before adding to the salad.
- Coleslaw Mixes Bagged coleslaw is one of the things that I do not mind buying. Mind you, I still wash it and spin dry before using. There are several types out there: Plain cabbage, or cabbage with other things, like carrots and the like. Choose what works best for you.
- Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
- In a small bowl, mix together all the dressing ingredients. In a large serving bowl combine the coleslaw ingredients. Add the dressing and toss to combine.
- PLATE/PRESENT
- Serve as a side at your next dinner party, you guests will say thank you. Enjoy.

- In a very large bowl stir together the cabbage, the apple strips, the celery, and the walnuts. In a small bowl whisk together the mayonnaise, the yogurt, the mustard, the sugar, the oil, the salt, and the vinegar until the dressing is smooth, pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture, and toss the slaw well. Chill the slaw, covered, for 2 hours. The slaw may be made 1 day in advance and kept covered and chilled. Serve the slaw topped with the apples slices.
