8 ounces uncooked thin spaghetti
1 tablespoon olive oil
3/4 pound uncooked shrimp (26-30 per pound), peeled and deveined
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) petite diced tomatoes, undrained
10 fresh basil leaves, torn
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Cook spaghetti according to package directions., In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add shrimp; cook until shrimp begin to turn pink, 1-2 minutes. Add garlic and pepper flakes; cook 1 minute longer., Add tomatoes; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until shrimp turn pink, 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in basil, salt and pepper. Serve with spaghetti and cheese.

1/2 pound angel hair pasta
3/4 pound raw, peeled, deveined shrimp (medium sized)
4 medium ripe tomatoes
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup torn fresh basil leaves
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (divided, 1 Tbsp and 2 Tbsp)
Salt
Pepper

Steps:

  • Sauté the shrimp Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil in a large sauté pan on medium high heat. Add the shrimp to the pan and cook for 1 minute. Turn the shrimp over in the pan. Lower the heat to medium.

1/2 cup KRAFT Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 cups penne pasta, uncooked
1 lb. cooked cleaned medium shrimp
1/4 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese

Steps:

  • Heat large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat. Add dressing, onions and garlic; cook 2 min. Stir in tomatoes; cook 12 min., stirring occasionally. Meanwhile, cook pasta as directed on package.
  • Add shrimp to sauce in skillet; cook 2 min. or until heated through. Remove from heat.
  • Drain pasta; toss with shrimp mixture. Sprinkle with cheese.

1/2 pound bacon strips, diced
1 medium onion, sliced
1/2 pound sliced fresh mushrooms
1 tablespoon butter
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 cans (one 28 ounces, one 15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup minced fresh basil
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 package (16 ounces) linguine
2 pounds uncooked large shrimp, peeled and deveined
Grated Parmesan cheese, optional

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Using a slotted spoon, remove to paper towels; drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings. Saute onion and mushrooms in drippings and butter until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in the tomatoes, basil, sugar, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes. , Meanwhile, cook linguine according to package directions. Add shrimp and reserved bacon to tomato mixture; cook, uncovered, for 5-6 minutes or until shrimp turn pink. Drain linguine; place in a large bowl. Top with shrimp mixture. This is nice and light for a pasta dish, and quick to put together. For your basic pomodoro sauce to serve anytime with pasta, simply omit the shrimp. I do think the choice of canned tomatoes is extremely important, and effects the overall quality of the sauce. I definitely use imported Italian tomatoes, preferably San Marzano.

1 lb dry pasta
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 garlic cloves, sliced
1 (28 ounce) can whole canned tomatoes, including liquid
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
12 fresh basil leaves, slivered

Steps:

  • Cook the pasta according to the package directions.
  • Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the garlic and cook until light brown, about 1 minute.
  • Add the tomatoes and their juices, salt, pepper, and sugar.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer, crushing the tomatoes with a wooden spoon, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 10 minutes.

1/3 cup olive oil
1 onion, diced
6 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup dry white wine
6 plum tomatoes or 6 roma tomatoes, roughly chopped
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 cup fresh basil, julienned
1 lb penne pasta

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add shrimp. Season with salt and pepper. Cook briefly until pink and opaque. Remove to a plate with a slotted spoon.
  • Add onion and garlic to hot oil and cook until onion is soft.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook 20 minutes or until tomatoes have released their liquid and softened.
  • Meanwhile, boil a large pot of water and salt if desired. Add pasta and cook per package instructions.
  • When pasta and sauce are ready, add red pepper flakes, basil, shrimp, and pasta to the skillet with tomatoes. Stir to coat noodles evenly. If the sauce gets too dry, add a few splashes of white wine.

  • In a large pot, add water and bring to a boil while you are chopping the tomatoes. Don't add the angel hair pasta yet, it cooks quickly (usually 3-4 minutes) so you will want to add it to the boiling water after you start cooking the tomatoes below. We want to have the pasta complete cooking just as the tomatoes and shrimp are done. Note, if you are using a pasta that requires a longer cooking time such as spaghetti or fettuccine, you might need to start cooking before you go to the next step. Check the cooking time on the box and adjust accordingly.
  • In large saute pan over medium heat add the olive oil and cook shrimp until it has turned pink, about 1 - 2 minutes per side. Remove shrimp from pan and set aside. If using frozen shrimp, be sure to defrost first per the package instructions.
  • Drain any liquid from the saute pan, reduce heat to medium-low and add 1 tbs of olive oil. When oil is hot, add chopped garlic and cook until fragrant, 2 - 3 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure it doesn't burn.
  • Add chopped tomatoes, then salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 6-8 minutes until the tomatoes get soft. Note, I like to chop the tomatoes into bite size pieces, about 12 - 16 per tomatoes.
