1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
3 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon chili oil
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, peeled, coarsely chopped
3 garlic cloves
4 lbs chicken wings, cut at joints, end tips discarded
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Combine first 6 ingredients in processor or blender and puree. Place chicken wings in large bowl. Pour puree over. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead.).
  • Position rack on top third of oven and preheat to 375°F Remove chicken from marinade; reserve marinade. Arrange chicken on large jelly roll pan and bake 25 minutes. Turn chicken over and bake 15 minutes. Brush chicken with half of marinade and bake 7 mintues. Turn chicken over and brush with remaining marinade. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake until chicken and sesame seeds brown, about 7 minutes.
  • Transfer chicken to platter and serve.

This is a simple recipe to make, but is incredibly flavorful, and can be served hot or at room temperature, making it a great potluck contribution. You can deep-fry the wings if that's what you prefer, but the baked ones are surprisingly good.

½ cup cornstarch
⅓ cup soy sauce
¼ cup oil
¼ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
1 ½ teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
1 (3 pound) bag chicken wings, tips removed

Steps:

  • Whisk cornstarch, soy sauce, oil, flour, sugar, eggs, sesame seeds, salt, and garlic powder together in a bowl. Pour marinade into a resealable plastic bag. Add chicken, coat with the marinade, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator, 5 hours to overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Remove chicken from marinade and transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Discard unused marinade.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink at the bone and the juices run clear, about 30 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

Many times I've taken this dish to church dinners and I'm always asked for the recipe. It's a super appetizer for any gathering.

1/2 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons sesame or olive oil
4 green onions with tops, sliced
1/2 medium onion, sliced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 to 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
Dash pepper
2-1/2 pounds chicken wings

Steps:

  • In a large plastic bag or glass dish, combine the first nine ingredients. Add chicken wings; coat well. Cover and refrigerate 2-3 hours or overnight, turning occasionally. Remove chicken to a shallow rack in a baking pan; discard marinade. , Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30 minutes. Turn and bake about 20 minutes longer or until tender.

20 chicken wings
3 large eggs, beaten
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons coarse salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
2 to 3 garlic cloves, minced
Hot sauce, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Place the chicken wings in a large bowl. Add the eggs and toss to coat. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with baking parchment or coat the pan with oil.
  • In a small bowl, combine the sesame seeds, flour, salt, cayenne, bread crumbs, and garlic. Dip each wing into the sesame mixture to fully coat. Place the coated wings side by side on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 30 minutes and increase the temperature to 400 degrees. Cook until the wings are golden brown and sizzling, 20 to 30 more minutes. Immediately remove the wings from the baking sheet while hot. Serve with hot sauce.

16 each frozen chicken wings
1 (5 ounce) bottle soy sauce
¼ cup water
3 tablespoons white sugar
¼ cup sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  • Place frozen chicken wings, skin side-down, in the prepared pan.
  • Combine soy sauce, water, and sugar in a bowl; pour sauce over chicken.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven, turn wings, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
