GARLIC PIZZA SAUCE



Garlic Pizza Sauce image

This creamy garlic pizza sauce is a delicious, flavorful base for my favorite pizzas, pastas and chicken and sausage dishes.

1 Tbsp olive oil
4 cloves (2 tsp) garlic, minced
2 Tbsp All Purpose flour
1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 1/2 cups half and half
1 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, place the olive oil and the minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes, whisking constantly so the garlic doesn't brown. Add the Italian seasoning, salt and pepper and stir.
  • Sprinkle in the flour and whisk quickly until it is a thick paste. Let cook and bubble for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Stir in the half and half 1/2 c. at a time, whisking constantly. Add the Parmesan cheese and stir, then turn the heat to low and let simmer 5-10 minutes to thicken. Serve warm or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5-7 days until ready to use.

A couple of times, I have wanted to make my own pizza sauce but was short of time. I always try to do new things. If you love garlic, you should love this sauce!

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/4 cups ready-made pasta sauce (I used Hunt's Garlic-n-Herb)
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil
1 tablespoon minced fresh oregano or 1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Put all ingredients in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Mix thoroughly.
  • Enjoy on your favorite pizza or as a dipping sauce for breadsticks and stromboli/calzones.
  • This makes enough sauce for 2 12" pizzas.
