HONEY-PEANUT SCHOOL FUEL



Honey-Peanut School Fuel image

Honey-roasted peanuts, Chex™ cereal and Cheerios™ protein cereal are even more delicious when coated in a light honey glaze and tossed with candy for a quick and satisfying snack.

6 cups Corn Chex™ cereal
4 cups Cheerios™ Protein Oats & Honey cereal
1 cup honey-roasted peanuts
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup honey
1 1/2 cups M&M's® peanut chocolate candies

Steps:

  • In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals and peanuts.
  • In 2-cup microwavable measuring cup, microwave butter and honey uncovered on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until mixture comes to a full boil and butter is melted. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated. Microwave uncovered on High 2 to 4 minutes, stirring every minute, until mixture is well coated and looks glazed.
  • Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool. Place in serving bowl; stir in candies. Store in airtight container.

A kid pleasing treat for children of all ages. If you want to get creative, add nuts or M&M's. From the Chex cereal company.

Number Of Ingredients 7

3/4 cup packed brown sugar
6 tablespoons margarine or 6 tablespoons butter (not spread or tub products)
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
4 cups Corn Chex
4 cups Rice Chex
1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper.
  • Microwave first three ingredients uncovered in large microwavable bowl, until butter is melted; stir after one minute.
  • Stir in baking soda until dissolved.
  • Add cereals and stir.
  • Microwave on High 3 minutes, stirring every 60 seconds.
  • Spread on cookie sheet.
  • Cool 10 minutes; break into bite-size pieces.
  • Melt chocolate chips in small microwavable bowl until chocolate can be stirred smooth.
  • Drizzle chocolate over snack.
  • Refrigerate 30 minutes or until chocolate is set.
  • Store in airtight container.

3/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
6 Tbsp margarine or butter (do not use spread or tub products)
3 Tbsp corn syrup, light
1/4 tsp baking soda
4 c corn chex
4 c rice chex
1/4 c semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper. Microwave brown sugar, margarine and corn syrup until margarine is melted.
  • 2. Stir in baking soda until dissolved. Stir in cereals, microwave on high for 3 minutes, stirring every minute. Spread on cookie sheet.
  • 3. Cool 10 minutes, then break into bite size pieces. Microwave chocolate chips in small microwavable bowl on high until chocolate can be stirred smooth.
  • 4. Drizzle chocolate over snack, refrigerate until chocolate is set. Store in airtight container.
