Convenient prebaked crust makes this tasty taco pizza as easy as can be. It's a great recipe, especially if you have teenagers. I keep the ingredients on hand so that we can whip up this filling meal anytime. -Mary Cass, Baltimore, Maryland

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 pound ground beef
1 envelope taco seasoning
1 cup water
2 prebaked 12-inch pizza crusts
1 can (16 ounces) refried beans
3/4 cup salsa
2 cups coarsely crushed tortilla chips
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Optional: shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes; set aside. , Place crusts on ungreased pizza pans or baking sheets. Combine beans and salsa; spread over crusts. Top with beef mixture, chips and cheese. , Bake until heated through and cheese is melted, 13-16 minutes. If desired, sprinkle with lettuce and tomatoes.

One 13.8-ounce can premade pizza crust dough or a pre-formed round crust, such as Papa Murphy's
1 pound ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
One 16-ounce can refried beans
1/2 cup picante sauce (see Cook's Note)
3/4 cup sliced green or black olives
8 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded
Kosher salt
1 cup finely diced tomato (about 1 large or 30 grape tomatoes)
12 ounces shredded lettuce (about 1 large head)
1/4 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Roll out the pizza dough and fit it onto a 15-inch pizza pan.
  • Brown the ground beef in a medium skillet over medium heat, about 10 minutes. Stir in the taco seasoning. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the refried beans and picante sauce until combined. Spread the mixture onto the crust. Scatter the olives over the crust, then top with the cheese and the browned beef. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the crust is lightly browned.
  • While the crust is baking, lightly salt the tomatoes, then, in a medium bowl, toss them with the lettuce and sour cream. Once the pizza is out of the oven, top it with the cool lettuce mixture. Slice into eight pieces and serve.

SPICY GROUND BEEF TACOS

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 white or yellow onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
2 teaspoons ground coriander
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 pounds ground beef chuck
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1 15-ounce can diced fire-roasted tomatoes
1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce
12 hard taco shells
Shredded iceberg lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese and/or pickled jalapenos, for topping

Steps:

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 4 minutes. Add the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, cumin, coriander, paprika, oregano and garlic powder; cook, stirring, until the onion is coated, about 1 minute.
  • Add the beef, 1 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper to the skillet. Cook, breaking up the meat, until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes, hot sauce and 1/4 cup water and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the juices are slightly thickened, 5 to 7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Meanwhile, warm the taco shells as the label directs. Fill with the beef mixture and top with lettuce, cheese and/or pickled jalapenos.

1 medium onion, chopped
16 ounces taco sauce (mild or hot)
1 (4 ounce) can mild green chilies (chilies should be chopped mild green chilies and be drained)
1/2 cup ripe olives, sliced
8 ounces crescent rolls
1 1/2 cups corn chips, crushed
1 cup sour cream
1 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
olive, sliced (optional)
mushroom, sliced (optional)
1 cup lettuce, shredded
1 medium avocado (avocado should be peeled and sliced)
1 medium tomatoes, diced

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef and onion in large frying-pan or Dutch oven.
  • Pour off drippings.
  • Add 1 cup taco sauce, green chilies and olives.
  • Separate crescent rolls into 8 triangles and press into greased 9 to 10-inch pie pan to form crust.
  • Sprinkle 1 cup crushed corn chips evenly over dough.
  • Spread beef mixture evenly over chips, spread with sour cream.
  • Cover with shredded Monterey Jack cheese, then shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup crushed chips.
  • Garnish with sliced olives and mushrooms, if desired.
  • Bake in a moderate oven (375°F) for 20 to 25 minutes or until crust is golden.
  • Cut into wedges and serve with lettuce, avocado, tomato and remaining taco sauce.
  • NOTE:.
  • Pastry for single-crust pie may be substituted for crescent rolls.

We used to go to a pizza place in Georgia that served a taco pizza. This is my version. It is different, but really a nice blend of the two. Prep time is if crust is pre-made.

12 -14 inches pizza dough
6 -8 ounces pizza sauce (your choice)
6 -8 ounces taco sauce (hot or mild your choice)
1/2 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons taco seasoning
2 tablespoons water
cheddar cheese, as desired
black olives
onion (sliced)
mushroom
jalapeno
extra cheese
sour cream
tomatoes
lettuce
extra taco sauce

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef, drain fat, add taco seasoning and water, mix well and set aside to cool.
  • Mix taco sauce and pizza sauce together.
  • Spread sauce on crust.
  • Top sauce with"taco meat", any optional ingredients desired, cheddar cheese.
  • Keep in mind you will add more cheese when it is done.
  • Bake@ 425° until crust is browned and cheese is bubbly.
  • Top with a light bed of shredded lettuce.
  • Sprinkle with cheese, arrange onion and tomato slices.
  • Dot with sour cream and drizzle with taco sauce.
  • If you desire add black olives for appearance.

  • Preheat the oven to 500°F (if using a baking sheet) or as high as it will go (if using a baking stone/steel; place the stone/steel in the bottom third of the oven before you start preheating). Let the oven preheat for at least 30 minutes. Then, if you’re using a baking stone or steel, switch the oven to Broil on high.
  • Heat the oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until the onion has softened, 5 to 7 minutes, then add the tomato paste and taco seasoning. Stir well and cook for 1 minute, or until the tomato paste darkens a bit and the spices are fragrant. Add the ground meat to the skillet and cook for 7 to 9 minutes, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until it's browned and cooked all the way through. Taste and season with salt.
  • Stretch or roll out your dough to a 12- to 14-inch circle, then transfer it to an oiled or parchment-lined baking sheet or a lightly floured pizza peel (if using a baking stone/steel).
  • Brush the dough lightly with olive oil, making sure to get all the way to the edges. Scoop the cooked meat onto the dough and spread it out evenly, then top with the cheddar cheese.
