Steps:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Combine flour, poppy seeds, baking powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Cut in vegetable shortening and butter. Stir in buttermilk.
- Knead dough four or five times. Pat out dough 1/2 inch thick.
- Using a long sharp knife, cut dough into squares or rectangles.
- Bake on ungreased baking sheet until golden, about 12 minutes.
POPPY SEED BISCUIT RING

- In a shallow bowl, combine the butter, onion, poppy seeds and garlic. Separate each tube of biscuits into 10 biscuits; dip in butter mixture and stand up on end in a lightly greased 10-in. fluted tube pan., Bake at 400° for 14-16 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately invert onto a serving plate. Serve warm.

- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
- Lightly grease a baking sheet or line with baking parchment.
- Mix onions, sugar, egg, vegetable oil, and warm water in a large bowl with an electric mixer until well combined.
- Mix the baking powder, salt, pepper, and poppy seeds into the onion mixture.
- Beat the flour into the onion mixture in batches with the mixer set to Low speed until incorporated into a dough.
- Drop dough by the tablespoon onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown on top, 20 to 30 minutes.

Steps:
- In blender, combine milk, honey, cottage and cheese.
- Cover and process until smooth.
- In bowl, combine Bisquick and poppy seeds.
- Stir in cottage cheese mixture just until blended.
- Turn on floured surface.
- Pat out to 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut with biscuit cutter and place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 425° for 8 to 10 minutes, or till golden brown.

- Combine powdered sugar, butter, and orange zest in bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Starting on low speed and gradually increasing speed to high, beat until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes, stopping to scrape down sides of bowl as needed. Reduce speed to low. Add egg, poppy seeds, cardamom, and orange juice, and beat until thoroughly blended, about 1 minute. Gradually add flour and baking soda, beating until incorporated, 30 seconds to 1 minute, stopping to scrape down sides of bowl as needed. Chill, uncovered, 1 hour.

- Bake in preheated oven until edges of cookies are golden brown and middles are just set, 12 to 15 minutes. Transfer cookies to a wire rack, and let cool completely, about 15 minutes (cookies will continue to crisp as they cool).
