These sandwiches are delicious. I purchase steak that has been sliced for making stir-fry, which takes a little less time, but achieves the same results.

1 pound beef sirloin, cut into thin 2 inch strips
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon dried marjoram
½ teaspoon dried basil
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 onion, sliced
1 green bell pepper, julienned
3 ounces Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
4 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise

Steps:

  • Place the beef in a large bowl. In a small bowl, mix together salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, marjoram and basil. Sprinkle over beef.
  • Heat half of the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Saute beef to desired doneness, and remove from pan. Heat the remaining oil in the skillet, and saute the onion and green pepper.
  • Preheat oven on broiler setting.
  • Divide the meat between the bottoms of 4 rolls, layer with onion and green pepper, then top with sliced cheese. Place on cookie sheet, and broil until cheese is melted. Cover with tops of rolls, and serve.

A hearty sandwich that everyone will like. It's especially good as a halftime treat for football fans.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup green bell pepper, chopped
3/4 cup onion, chopped
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 garlic cloves, pressed
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, divided
2 packages (10 ounces each) refrigerated pizza crust
8 ounces thinly sliced deli roast beef
8 ounces thinly sliced American cheese
1 egg white, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Using Food Chopper, chop bell pepper and onion. In (10-in.) Sauté Pan, heat oil over medium heat 1-3 minutes or until shimmering. Press garlic into oil using Garlic Press. Add bell pepper, onion and 1/2 teaspoon of the oregano leaves. Cook and stir 3-4 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender. Remove Pan from heat. Unroll 1 pizza crust onto lightly floured surface. Using lightly floured Baker's Roller®, roll out crust to 12" x 9" rectangle; cover with half of the beef, cheese and vegetable mixture to within 1/2 inch of edges of dough. Starting at longest side of rectangle, roll up dough, jelly-roll fashion; press seam together to seal. Repeat with remaining crust and filling ingredients. Place rolls, seam sides down, on Large Round Stone with Handles. Join ends of rolls together to form 1 large ring; press ends together to seal. In small bowl, combine egg white and water; brush onto dough using Chef's Silicone Basting Brush. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 teaspoon oregano. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting with Slice 'N Serve®.

  • Chop bell pepper and onion, set aside.
  • Put oil into skillet and heat, add pressed garlic, bell pepper and onion and 1/2 of the oregano leaves. Cook and stir 3 to 4 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender. Remove pan from heat, unroll 1 pizza crust onto lightly floured surface, with the dough and pizza roller, roll out crusts to a 12 X 9 rectangle; cover with half of the cheese, beef and vegetable mixture to within 1/2 inch of edges of dough.
  • Starting at longest side of rectangle, roll up dough, jelly roll fashion. Press seam together to seal. Repeat with remaining crust and filling ingredients. Place rolls seam down on the 15" round baking stone. Join ends of rolls together to form one large ring. Press ends together to seal. In small bowl, combine egg white and water, brush onto dough using a pastry brush. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 teaspoons oregano on top of ring.
  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until Golden Brown. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.

1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 medium onions, thinly sliced
1 medium green pepper, sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1 pound thinly sliced cooked roast beef
6 hoagie rolls, split
6 slices part-skim mozzarella cheese
4 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
2 cups water

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, saute the mushrooms, onions and green pepper in butter until tender. Divide beef among rolls. Top with vegetables and cheese; replace roll tops. , Place on an ungreased baking sheet; cover with foil. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes or until heated through. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine bouillon and water; cook until heated through. Serve as a dipping sauce.
