PERFECT CHERRY COBBLER

Perfect Cherry Cobbler image

Cherries are my dad's favorite fruit whether it's in a pie or cobbler. This is my mom's cobbler recipe passed down to me and it's perfect just the way it is so I didn't even have to tweak it!

Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 stick butter
1 c self rising flour
1 1/2 c sugar (divided)
1 egg
1 c milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 can(s) (21 oz) cherry pie filling
ice cream or whipped cream for topping (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. In a small mixing bowl mix cherry pie filling with 1/2 cup sugar, or Splenda if desired.
  • 2. Preheat oven to 350* F. Place a stick of butter in a glass 9 x 11 baking pan and put in the oven to melt the butter. Remove from oven as soon as butter is melted, about 5 minutes.
  • 3. In a mixing bowl mix flour, 1 cup sugar, egg, milk and vanilla until about smooth. When butter is melted pour batter into the hot butter - it will spread out on its own.
  • 4. Drop pie filling and sugar mixture by large spoonfuls into batter all around the baking dish. The batter will rise up and surround the cherries during the baking process. Bake at 350* for 1 hour.
  • 5. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired. Enjoy!
