RUM POACHED PEARS RECIPE BY TASTY
Here's what you need: pears, water, sugar, rum, vanilla extract, vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate

Steps:
- Peel the pears and cut the bottoms out, but leave the stems intact.
- Mix the water, sugar, rum, and vanilla in a large pot. Set to medium heat.
- Add the pears. Cover with a lid and simmer for about 40 minutes, turning occasionally. Cook until soft and golden (this can take less time depending on the ripeness of your pears.
- Scoop out the pears and place upright on a dish. At this point you can cook the liquid longer until it becomes a syrup, or ladle a small amount directly onto the pears right away.
- Add optional ice cream.
- Melt some dark chocolate and spoon it onto the pear or your favorite toppings like nuts!
- Enjoy!

- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-high. Add pears, one cut side down, and cook until browned, then reduce heat to medium and cook 3 minutes. Turn pears to other cut side and cook 4 minutes. Add sugar and 1 tablespoon water, swirling pan to combine. Turn pears skin side down and cook until sauce is thickened slightly, 2 minutes. Stir in vanilla and pinch of salt. Serve warm with ice cream.

Steps:
- Cook the water, vanilla and 1 cup sugar until the sugar dissolves.
- Poach the pears in this syrup until soft; remove the pears.
- Add the Curaçao to the syrup and cook until thick.
- Put pear halves on a serving platter or on 8 individual serving dishes and fill the centers with 1/2 Tbs jam per pear half.
- Pour the syrup over them.
- Whip the cream until stiff, beat in the pinch of sugar, and spoon over the pears.
