PARTY RYE HORS D'OEUVRES
These little darlings are a great starter to a dinner party or just as a snack for those hungry teenagers. Easy, yet very impressive.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Mix cheese, olives, onions, and mayonnaise (just enough mayo to get to spreading consistency).
- Spread mixture on slices of rye bread (not too thin).
- Place bread on baking sheet and bake in hot oven until cheese melts, about 5 -7 minutes.
- Devour! But be careful -- it will singe the roof of your mouth if you're not careful. (;.

PARMESAN-RYE HORS D'OEUVRES
Steps:
- Drain olives; put into medium-sized bowl. Add cheese to olives. Stir to blend. Add Kraft Miracle Whip; mix to a spreadable consistency.
- MICROWAVE COOKING DIRECTIONS:
- Place on microwavable plate or cookie sheet. Set microwave on MEDIUM; heat just until cheese is bubbly, about 2 to 3 minutes. Heat in 30 second increments, if necessary. Serve on platter. DO NOT STACK.
- TOASTER OVEN COOKING DIRECTIONS:
- Set toaster oven to MEDIUM. Toast until cheese is bubbly. Serve on platter. DO NOT STACK.
- BROILER COOKING DIRECTIONS:
- Place on broiler pan (or on foil pan). Place under broiler until cheese is bubbly. Serve on platter. DO NOT STACK.

PARMESAN PUFFS
Steps:
- In a small heavy saucepan combine the milk, 1/4 cup water, the butter, and the salt and bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to moderate, add the flour all at once, and beat the mixture with a wooden spoon until it leaves the side of the pan and forms a ball. transfer the mixture to a bowl, whisk in the eggs, 1 at a time, whisking well after each addition, and stir in the Parmesan and pepper to taste. Drop the batter in 8 mounds on a buttered baking sheet and bake the puffs in the upper third of a preheated 400°F. oven for 20 minutes, or until they are crisp and golden. The puffs may be served as an hors d'oeuvre or as an accompaniment to soups, meats, and poultry and may be stored overnight in an airtight container.

Steps:
- Put oven rack in upper third of oven and preheat oven to 400°F.
- Stir together cheese, mayonnaise, onion, and cayenne.
- Cut out 4 rounds from each bread slice using cutter and arrange on a baking sheet. Bake toasts until tops are crisp and just golden, 3 to 4 minutes. Cool toasts slightly on baking sheet on a rack. (Leave oven on.)
- Top each toast with a rounded 1/2 teaspoon cheese mixture, spreading to edge with a small offset spatula or knife. Bake toasts until topping is puffed and golden, about 6 minutes.
ONION TOASTS

- Preheat broiler.
- Stir together onion and mayonnaise. Arrange bread slices in 1 layer on a baking sheet and broil 6 inches from heat until lightly toasted (watch carefully). Remove from oven and turn toasts over. Spread evenly with onion mixture and sprinkle with cheese and freshly ground pepper.
- Broil hors d'oeuvres until topping is bubbling and lightly browned, 1 to 2 minutes (watch carefully to prevent burning).
- Serve warm.

These little rye bread squares are easy to make and filled with the rich flavor of Parmesan cheese. They're perfect for parties or an afternoon snack.

- Place the Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, onion and reserved onion juice in a blender or food processor. Blend thoroughly. Spread the mixture evenly on slices of cocktail rye bread.
- Place cocktail rye bread slices on a large baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven 10 minutes, or until lightly toasted.
