Old Fashioned Recipe!

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 tablespoons butter (softened)
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cups peeled and chopped apples (I use 2 medium sized Gala apples)
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Cream butter, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla with a mixer. In another bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
  • Add to creamed mixture and mix until all ingredients are wet. Fold in chopped apples with a spoon. Spray a 9 inch deep dish pie plate with cooking spray.
  • Pour in batter and sprinkle chopped nuts on top. (You can fold nuts into batter if you want) Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes testing center to see if done. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream on top while warm from the oven.

My sister found this recipe some 30+ years ago...President Truman requested this often and Bess would go to the kitchen and make this for him herself. This is best served warm with FRESH whipped cream.

2 eggs, beaten till thick &,lemon colored
1 1/3 cups sugar
2/3 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups chopped raw apples
1 cup black walnut, chopped

Steps:

  • Beat eggs well until thick and lemon colored.
  • Gradually add sugar to eggs.
  • In separate bowl mix together flour, salt and baking powder.
  • Stir into egg mixture.
  • Chop apples (with skins) and nut meats- fold into batter.
  • Grease 9x9 pan well with butter.
  • Pour in batter.
  • Bake in preheated 325º oven approximately 30-40 minutes or until done.
  • Pudding falls slightly after baking.

1 egg whole
3/4 c sugar
1 Tbsp flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
5 small raw apples peeled cored and diced
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c chopped walnuts to garnish
1 pt heavy cream

Steps:

  • 1. beat egg and sugar a long time until very smooth and light.
  • 2. mix flour,baking powder,and salt
  • 3. Stir in the sugar and egg mixture,add apples,nuts,and vanilla.
  • 4. Bake in a buttered covered dish in a 350f oven for 35 mins or until apples are nearly tender
  • 5. Now remove cover to brown top
  • 6. serve pudding cold with whipped cream.Garnish with with chopped walnuts.

1 egg

1/3 c all purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 c chopped apples
1/2 c walnut pieces
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
TOPPING
1 c heavy cream, whipped
2 Tbsp powdered sugar
2 Tbsp rum

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a 1 qt baking dish.
  • 2. With electric mixer, beat egg well; gradually add sugar, beating constantly until light and creamy.
  • 3. Sift together dry ingredients; add to egg mixture, blending well.
  • 4. Lightly stir in apples, walnuts and vanilla. Pour into prepared dish.
  • 5. Bake for 30 minutes
  • 6. Serve with whipped cream sweetened with powdered sugar and rum...YUMMMMM

Yield Makes 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tart cooking apple, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch pieces (about 1 cup)
1 cup pecan pieces
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Lightly sweetened whipped cream, for serving

Steps:

  • 1 Preheat the oven to 325°F. Butter a 9-inch square baking dish.
  • 2 Whisk together the flour and baking powder in a small bowl. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and salt until blended and frothy. While whisking vigorously, slowly add the sugar and whisk until thick. Stir in the apples, pecans, and vanilla. Stir in the flour mixture, stirring well to incorporate the dry ingredients.
  • 3 Scrape the batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top. Bake until the top crust is browned and the filling is bubbly around the edges, about 40 minutes. Let cool at least 10 minutes before serving hot or at room temperature with the whipped cream.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 9-in. deep-dish pie plate. , In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat egg and sugar until thick and lemon-colored. Stir in vanilla, then flour mixture. Fold in apple and walnuts., Transfer to prepared pie plate. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. (Cake will puff up, then fall when removed from oven.) With a knife, loosen sides from pie plate while still warm., Serve warm. If desired, top with whipped cream.
