DARK CHOCOLATE-ORANGE BROWNIES

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking pan and line with parchment paper, leaving the paper hanging over on 2 opposite sides.
- Place semisweet chocolate and butter into a microwave-safe bowl. Melt chocolate in a microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring after each interval, 1 to 3 minutes.
- Beat brown sugar, eggs, and orange zest together using an electric mixer in a bowl until thick and fluffy. Fold in chocolate mixture.
- Sift flour and cocoa together into a separate bowl; stir in chocolate mixture. Stir in white chocolate bits. Spread into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean, about 40 minutes. Let cool in the pan completely before lifting out, 15 to 30 minutes, using the paper as handles. Cut into squares.

- Prepare brownie mix as directed on package. Stir in orange extract and chocolate chips. Spread in greased 13x9-inch baking pan.
- Bake and cool as directed on package.
- Orange-Kissed Frosting: Stir 1 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Orange Extract into 1 container (16 ounces) chocolate frosting until well blended.
- Spread with Orange-Kissed Chocolate Frosting, if desired. Cut into squares.
- Variations: For Raspberry Brownies: Use 4 teaspoons McCormick® Raspberry Extract in place of the orange extract in the brownie and 2 teaspoons in the frosting.
- For Almond Brownies: Use 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Almond Extract in place of the orange extract in the brownie and 1/4 teaspoon in the frosting.
- For Peppermint Brownies: Use 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Peppermint Extract in place of the orange extract in the brownie and 1/4 teaspoon in the frosting.
- For Mexican Chocolate Brownies: Use 1 tablespoon McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract and 1 teaspoon McCormick® Ground Cinnamon in place of the orange extract in the brownie and 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon in the frosting.

- Preheat the oven to 325ºF. Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper and spray lightly with nonstick spray.
- Add the butter and chocolate to a medium heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water. Stir occasionally until fully melted and smooth. Set aside to cool slightly. (The temperature of the melted chocolate should be about 120°F before continuing with the recipe.)
- In a separate medium bowl, beat the sugar and eggs together with an electric mixer at medium speed until light and aerated. Beat in the orange zest, vanilla, and salt until combined. Add the melted chocolate and mix until well combined. Fold in the flour with a rubber spatula just until combined.
- Spread the batter evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top of the brownies look dry and the edges begin to pull away from the sides of the pan. Cool the brownies in the pan on a wire rack.
