1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato soup
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 clove garlic
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper

Steps:

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

I love making a batch of this for Sunday Supper; it's just about enough to feed us all! I don't usually use "name brands" but it seems to me that real Campbell's Tomato Soup gives this its characteristic orange color, whereas the generic versions are paler. Sometimes, you just have to "splurge".

1 c salad oil (blends ok, but not leftover fry oil)
3/4 c white sugar
1 can(s) condensed tomato soup (see note above)
1/2 c white vinegar
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1 1/8 tsp dry yellow mustard
1 tsp salt
1 tsp celery seed
1/4 tsp pepper

Steps:

1. Whisk together the soup with the vinegar first, then add all the other ingredients s-l-o-w-l-y so it doesn't get curdly looking (still tastes great though!). Chill for 30 minutes if you have time.
2. You can see what happens if you decide to take a shortcut and blend everything together, like Rebekah did! That's Ok, we ate it anyway! It was a good lesson for her in patience, temperance and self-control.

This salad dressing is made in Nebraska and everyone eats it! I have spent my adult years in San Diego, Ca. without my dear dressing and young memories, but now I can tell you this recipe is the real thing! If you haven't tried Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing, give it a try...ingredients sound weird but stay true to the recipe!

Ingredients

1 c canola oil
1/2 c white sugar
1 can(s) (10 3/4 oz) tomato soup
1/2 c vinegar
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1 tsp celery seed
1/4 tsp fresh gound peppercorns (ground with grinder)

Steps:

1. Mix all ingredients in a blender until creamy.
2. Pour into canning jar (I use empty water bottles) or container and refrigerate overnight. Keep refrigerated when not in use.
3. NOTE: To thicken the dressing add a little cornstarch (I have never had to do this...).

This is my husband's favorite dressing, and it is the best dressing to use in taco salad. The original dressing was made in St. Paul, Nebraska and is sold in the midwest but is becoming more expensive. This recipe is very similar to the store version and uses products I regularly have in my pantry. We love it.

Ingredients

1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1 cup vegetable oil
¾ cup white sugar
½ cup vinegar
1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon celery seeds
¼ teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon cornstarch, or as needed

Steps:

Mix tomato soup, vegetable oil, sugar, vinegar, dry mustard, salt, celery seeds, black pepper, and garlic powder in a large jar with a lid. For thicker dressing, stir in cornstarch. Serve immediately or refrigerate overnight for best flavor.

1 pkg taco seasoning mix
1 medium head iceberg lettuce
1 can(s) kidney beans, rinsed and drained (15 oz)
6 oz shredded cheddar cheese
1 pt cherry tomatoes, halved
2 stalk(s) green onions, diced
1 can(s) black olives, diced (3.8 oz)
1/2-1 pkg nacho cheese chips, crushed (9.34 oz)
1 c Dorothy Lynch salad dressing

Steps:

1. Prepare ground beef with taco mix according to directions. Place in refrigerator to let cool.
2. In a very large salad bowl, layer lettuce, beef mixture, beans, tomatoes, olives, and green onion.
3. Add crushed chips and cheese right before serving.
4. Right before serving, toss the salad together.
5. Pour salad dressing over the salad and toss.

1 lb salad pasta of your choice
1 small onion, diced
1 small green pepper, diced
2 stalk(s) celery, diced
2 c frozen peas, thawed and drained
2 c diced ham (salami works too)
dorothy lynch salad dressing or other sweet type french dressing (recipe link to follow in comments)
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and chill with cold water. Drain well. (The cook time is for the pasta.)
2. Combine all other ingredients except dressing and salt and pepper.
3. Add dressing to moisten. Mix well. Chill for several hours. Adjust seasoning and stir before serving.
