CHRISTMAS TREE SANDWICHES

Christmas Tree Sandwiches image

Plain peanut butter and jelly sandwiches take on new shape in the hands of subscriber Flo Burtnett of Gage, Oklahoma! To make her fun versions, she cut frozen bread slices with a tree-shaped cookie cutter, poked holes into one slice so the jelly would show through, then put together the sandwiches. "By the time you've finished, the bread's thawed and ready for eating," she notes.

CHRISTMAS TREE SANDWICH

Provided by My Food and Family

Categories     Lunch

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 tablespoons milk
1 drops green food coloring
2 slices whole wheat bread
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoons jam
1 handfuls mini
1 pounds rold

Steps:

  • Mix together milk and food coloring in a small bowl until it reaches a bright green color. Use a small paintbrush to "paint" one piece of bread green, being careful not to make the bread soggy. Place both pieces of bread in the toaster on a low setting.
  • After toasting, spread peanut butter on bread to make a peanut butter sandwich, putting the green bread on top, green side up. Use a knife to cut the sandwich into a large triangle.
  • Spoon the jam into a Ziploc bag and cut a small tip off the corner of the bag. Pipe the jam onto the sandwich in a zigzag pattern to simulate a tinsel garland. Use peanut butter to attach mini M&M's to sandwich to create ornaments and to attach the pretzel star to the inside tip of the tree.
