This warm Milk and Honey Drink recipe is spiced with vanilla, cinnamon, cloves and cardamon. It is a comforting drink that is perfect for the entire family. Enjoy a mug of this warm milk drink as a go-to sleep remedy, or as a relaxing way to start the morning. This spiced milk recipe is very quick and easy to make.

2 cups whole milk
1 whole bourbon vanilla bean (- sliced open)
1 whole ceylon cinnamon stick
4 whole cloves
2 whole cardamon
1 tablespoon honey
whipped cream (- for topping (optional))
ground cinnamon (- for topping (optional))

Steps:

  • Add the milk and spices into a small pot on medium-high heat. Heat the milk, stirring, until just under boiling. Remove from heat, cover, and let stand for about 10 minutes for the spices to infuse into the milk.
  • Mix in a tablespoon of honey. Pour into 2 mugs and serve immediately. Top with whipped cream and ground cinnamon, if desired.

8 ounces whole milk or 8 ounces 2% low-fat milk
1 1/2 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • Microwave the milk in a mug until piping hot, or about 1 minute 30 seconds.
  • Stir in the honey completely, so that no honey is left sitting on the bottom and the milk turns a golden color. I use the measuring spoon to stir the honey in the milk.
  • Drink hot.

¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pinch ground ginger

¾ teaspoon honey, or to taste
⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Whisk turmeric, cardamom, black pepper, ginger, cloves, and allspice together in a small bowl.
  • Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until heated through, 3 to 4 minutes; stir honey and vanilla extract into milk until completely dissolved. Whisk 1 teaspoon turmeric mixture into milk mixture; reduce heat to medium-low and cook until flavors blend, 2 to 3 minutes. Pour mixture through a strainer.

In Germany, she sweetens it with brown "Kandis," a specific kind of rock sugar, but I use honey here. It is important that you use organic onions for this home remedy as you are cooking them with their peels.

Steps:

  • Place onions in a pot and cover with water; bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour.
  • Strain hot liquid through a sieve. Pour into a cup, sweeten to taste with honey, and drink as hot as possible.
