MEAT LOVERS VEGGIE BURGER

MEAT LOVERS VEGGIE BURGER image

I keep working at finding a veggie burger that actually comes close to a regular burger. This one is the best. I enjoy Montreal Steak Seasoning on my burger. It really brings out the taste. Die hard meat eating friends of ours say they would eat these burgers regularly!

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 13

4 Tbsp olive oil
2 lb mixed mushrooms/crimini,shiitake, portabello
1/2 c finely chopped onions
6 clove garlic
2/3 c rolled oats
1/3 c shredded parmesan cheese
3/4 c italian bread crumbs
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp parsely
1 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 Tbsp pepper
2 tsp steak sauce (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. In a small frying pan put 1 tsp of olive oil. Then add the mushrooms, onion and garlic and saute for about 10 minutes.
  • 2. In a large bowl, put in the sauted mushrooms, onions, and garlic. Then add the rest of the ingredients except the eggs. Beat the eggs well then add.
  • 3. Mix the ingredients well and let them sit and rest for about 15 minutes for the flavors to mix.
  • 4. Put the rest of the olive oil in the frying pan and heat the oil until it snaps from a drop of water. Make each patty and place in the pan. Fry them 5 or so minutes on each side.
  • 5. Sprinkle on the steak sauce while cooking. (optional) Then serve.
  • 6. If you are putting them on the grill, leave out step 4. Add your regular condiments and enjoy.

VEGGIE BURGERS

Veggie Burgers image

Recipe video above. A Veggie Burger created by a carnivore, for carnivores. It is not a vegetarian burger pretending to be a meat burger, packed with obscure ingredients. This is just a flavour packed, juicy vegetarian burger that's satisfyingly meaty! Chilling time: 1 hour

Provided by Nagi

Categories     BBQ     Mains

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 17

250g/8oz mushrooms, sliced
2 tsp olive oil
400g / 14 oz can cannellini beans, drained (Note 1)
1 large carrot , grated
1/2 cup (70g) cashews, raw unsalted (Note 2)
1/2 cup (55g) panko breadcrumbs (Note 3)
1/2 cup (50g) grated parmesan
1 egg
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 garlic clove (, minced)
1/2 tsp each paprika, salt and pepper
3/4 cup (150g) cooked brown rice (Note 4)
3/4 cup green onions (, sliced)
2 - 3 tbsp olive oil (or other)
Soft buns, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles, sauces, avocado, beetroot
French fries
Baked potato wedges

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 180C/350F (standard) or 160C/320F (fan/convection).
  • Pile mushrooms on a baking tray. Drizzle over oil, toss, then spread on the tray.
  • Spread beans on another tray, sprinkle carrots all over.
  • Put beans on top shelf and mushrooms on the shelf underneath.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until surface of beans is dried out and splitting and they look thoroughly unappetising, and the carrots around the edge of the tray are a bit golden. (Note 5) Remove tray with beans from oven.
  • Move mushrooms to top shelf, bake for further 10 minutes until dried out and wrinkly. Remove from oven, cool.
  • Place cashews in food processor. Blitz until they are breadcrumb size, don't blitz to powder.
  • Add beans, mushrooms and carrot. Blitz on high for 10 seconds or until chopped to large crumb size (see video and photos).
  • Add breadcrumbs, egg, parmesan, garlic, paprika, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Blitz for 15 - 30 seconds until it comes together like meat burger mixture but you can still see bits in it. (Note 6)
  • Add rice and shallots, blitz for 2 seconds until just dispersed (over blitzed rice = gluey).
  • Mixture should hold together well to form patties, but not stick to hands. If too wet, add breadcrumbs. If too crumbly, blitz more.
  • Shape into 4 - 6 patties, between 1.5 - 1.8cm / 0.6 - 0.7" thick and 10cm / 4" wide (Note 7). Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Cook burgers cold, straight from the fridge.
  • Heat 2 - 3 tbsp olive oil skillet on the stove over medium to medium-high heat.
  • Add 3 - 4 patties and cook until deep golden and crispy, 4 minutes. Carefully flip then cook the other side for 4 minutes until golden, then transfer to paper towel lined plate to drain.
  • Cook cold, straight from fridge. Brush BBQ and Veggie patties with oil. Heat BBQ to medium high. Cook 4 minutes each side until a nice dark crust forms.
  • Toast buns, spread top bun with relish or sauce of choice. Top with your choice of burger fillings and the Veggie Burger, then more sauce if desired.

MEAT-LOVERS' VEGGIE BURGER

Meat-Lovers' Veggie Burger image

This recipe is from the Time-Life Family Favorites collection. I have modified it to suit my tastes. The walnuts and basil really make this dish. You can use any frozen veggie combo in this as long as they are small veggies - I use peas and corn.

Categories     < 30 Mins

Time 25m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/3 cup instant rice (white or brown)
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
1 1/2 cups frozen vegetables
1/3 cup quick-cooking oats
1/3 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 egg, slightly beaten

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine rice and water. Bring to a rolling boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and cover. Simmer until all the water is absorbed, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil. Add frozen veggies and cook for 1 minutes or so to soften. (This is also the stage where you would cook onions and garlic if you would like to add them!).
  • Remove veggies to a large bowl. Stir in rice, oats, walnuts, cheese, flour, basil, salt and pepper into vegetable mixture. Add the egg and stir until starchy, about 1 minute. (Make sure to beat the egg BEFORE adding to the other ingredients. Otherwise your patties won't bind as well.).
  • Using a 1/3 cup dry measure, scoop and form mixture into 8 patties.
  • In the same large skillet you cooked the veggies, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Cook patties in oil until browned on one side, about 3 minutes. Turn over and continue cooking until browned and cooked through, about 2 minutes.
  • Serve however you like - I suggest inside of pita bread.

BEEF, BEAN AND VEGGIE BURGERS

Beef, Bean and Veggie Burgers image

Provided by Katie Lee Biegel

Time 25m

Yield 6 burgers

Number Of Ingredients 17

1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons olive oil
1/2 cup finely diced yellow onions
1/2 cup grated carrots (see Cook's Note)
1/2 cup grated broccoli
1 jalapeño, seeds and membrane removed, finely minced
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 pound lean ground sirloin
1/2 cup grated oats (see Cook's Note)
1/2 cup canned black beans, drained and rinsed, pulsed in a food processor
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 large egg, lightly beaten
6 hamburger buns, toasted
Sliced avocado, sliced tomato and ranch dressing, for topping

Steps:

  • Heat 2 teaspoons of the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions, carrots, broccoli and jalapeño. Cook, stirring often, until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes. Add the chili powder, garlic powder and cumin. Cook to bloom the spices, about a minute. Transfer to a large mixing bowl; reserve the skillet.
  • Combine the vegetables with the beef, oats, beans, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and egg. Lightly mix and form evenly into 6 patties.
  • In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon oil over medium-high heat. Cook the burgers until browned and crusty on both sides, about 3 minutes per side.
  • Transfer the burgers to the buns, top with sliced avocado and tomato and drizzle with ranch dressing.

MEAT LOVER'S BURGER

Meat Lover's Burger image

These burgers are zesty and full of flavor combining mushrooms, bacon, and balsamic vinegar with ground beef. My boyfriend--an Italian chef and a meat lover--was taken away by the taste!

Provided by Natalie Ercolini

Categories     Meat and Poultry Recipes     Pork

Time 55m

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 14

8 slices bacon
½ white onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar, or to taste
5 fresh mushrooms, chopped
½ pound ground beef
½ cup dry bread crumbs
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 ½ tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg
salt and pepper to taste
1 malted wheat hamburger bun, split in half
2 slices tomato
2 slices Swiss cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Place bacon in a skillet over medium heat, and cook until brown and crisp. Remove bacon from skillet and drain on paper towels.
  • Return the skillet to the heat and increase the temperature to medium-high. Add the onion and garlic, and stir fry until the onion is soft and the garlic begins to brown. Add the balsamic vinegar, and cook while stirring for one minute. Add the chopped mushrooms, and cook for three additional minutes. Remove pan from heat and set aside.
  • Finely chop 4 slices of the bacon (reserving the remaining 4). In a medium bowl, combine the chopped bacon, ground beef, bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese, mushroom mixture and egg. Mix well using hands. Season with salt and pepper, and form into two patties.
  • Open the two halves of the hamburger bun on an ungreased cookie sheet. Place one beef patty on each half, and cover each with one slice of tomato, 2 slices of the reserved bacon and one slice of Swiss cheese.
  • Bake for 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until meat has cooked through.
