I brought this recipe with me from Quebec after my husband and I were married. The rich maple flavor impressed my in-laws the first time I made dinner for them.-Anne-Marie Fortin, Swanton, Vermont

3 pounds bone-in country-style pork ribs
1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup applesauce
1/4 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon each salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder and ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Place ribs in a Dutch oven. Cover with water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Drain. , Place ribs in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients; pour half over ribs. , Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 1-1/2 hours or until tender, basting often with remaining sauce.

Ribs are coated with a maple-mustard glaze and slow cooked until tender.

1 large onion, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices, separated into rings
1/3 cup maple flavored syrup
1/4 cup spicy brown mustard or Dijon mustard
3 pounds country-style pork ribs, trimmed of fat, cut into 3-inch pieces

Steps:

  • Place onion rings in the bottom of a 3-1/2 to 4 quart crock pot/slow cooker. In small bowl, combine syrup and mustard; mix well. Spread evenly over ribs. Place coated ribs over the onions. Cover; cook on LOW heat setting for at least 8 hours. If desired, serve with additional mustard.

3 pounds boneless country-style pork ribs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 large onion, cut into 1/2-inch rings
1 bottle (18 ounces) hickory smoke-flavored barbecue sauce
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup spicy brown mustard
Thinly sliced green onions, optional

Steps:

  • Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper. Place onion in a 6-qt. slow cooker. Top with ribs. In a large bowl, combine barbecue sauce, maple syrup and mustard; pour over ribs. Cook, covered, on low 6-8 hours or until meat is tender., Transfer meat to a serving platter; keep warm. Pour cooking liquid into a large saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes or until sauce is thickened. Serve with pork. If desired, sprinkle with onions.

3 pounds baby back pork ribs
¾ cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon mustard powder

Steps:

  • Place ribs in a large pot, and cover with water. Cover, and simmer for 1 hour, or until meat is tender. Drain, and transfer ribs to a shallow dish.
  • In a small saucepan, stir together the maple syrup, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and mustard powder. Bring to a low boil, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Cool slightly, then pour over ribs, and marinate in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
  • Prepare grill for cooking with indirect heat. Remove ribs from marinade. Transfer marinade to a small saucepan, and boil for several minutes.
  • Lightly oil grate. Cook for about 20 minutes, basting with the cooked marinade frequently, until nicely glazed.
