STEWED OKRA
I came up with this recipe one summer when I had lots of okra and tomatoes. Everyone really enjoyed it and said how delicious it was. Friends always ask me when I'm going to cook my tomato and okra dish. Sometimes I'll serve it over rice.

Steps:
- In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 25 minutes.

MAMA'S FRIED OKRA

Steps:
- Wash and cut okra into 1/4-inch pieces. Mix cornmeal, flour and seasoning. Add okra. Pour oil into a deep frying pan and heat to about 400 degrees F. Fry until golden.
STEAMED OKRA
Steps:
- Rinse the okra thoroughly in cold water. Place into steaming basket over 1 to 2 inches of boiling water. Cover and cook until tender, but crisp, about 5 minutes. Toss with butter and salt. Serve warm.
STEWED OKRA AND TOMATOES
Steps:
- Render bacon in a large saucepan, cooking until crisp. Remove from pan and dice, reserving drippings in pan. Add onion to the skillet with bacon fat and saute over medium heat until tender. Add all remaining ingredients, except okra, and bring to a boil, stirring to avoid burning. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add okra and let stew until the bright green color begins to fade. Serve hot.
