This sweet and boozy Brandy Slush recipe is a Midwestern classic cocktail. Make this easy drink recipe in advance for parties or keep it on hand in your freezer for any time your day could use a little extra spirit(s).

Number Of Ingredients 8

7 cups water (divided)
4 black tea bags (or green tea bags)
2 cups granulated sugar
1 (12 ounce) container frozen lemonade concentrate (thawed)
1 (12 ounce) container frozen orange juice concentrate (thawed)
2 cups brandy
lemon-lime soda ( or sparkling water, for serving)
lemon ( and orange wedges, for garnish, optional)

Steps:

  • Bring 2 cups water to boil. Add tea bags and steep 3 to 5 minutes. Discard bags and stir in sugar until dissolved.
  • In a 1 gallon plastic ice cream pail or other container, combine remaining 5 cups water, sweetened tea, both frozen juice concentrates, and brandy. Freeze at least 8 hours or overnight.
  • To serve, add 1/2 cup Brandy Slush to a glass. Top with lemon-lime soda or sparkling water. Garnish with orange and lemon wedges if desired.

Brandy slush is a Wisconsin favorite during the holiday season. This delicious brandy cocktail is infused with flavors of citrus and tea, and it's perfect for making in advance for parties. Garnish with fresh cranberries and rosemary for a festive look.

4 tea bags*
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 12-ounce container frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 12-ounce container frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
2 cups brandy
6 cups water
Club soda, seltzer water, or lemon lime soda
Orange slices

Steps:

  • Heat a large saucepan to medium-high. Add 2 cups water and sugar and heat until sugar is dissolved, stirring as needed. Remove from heat and add tea bags. Steep until cooled and discard tea bags.
  • Add tea syrup to a large freezer friendly container with remaining ingredients. Stir and cover with a an airtight lid.
  • Freeze overnight, or for a minimum of 6 hours.
  • To serve, scoop brandy slush into glasses and top with seltzer or soda. Garnish with an orange slice.

Yield 12 servings (about 2-1/2 quarts slush mix).

Number Of Ingredients 9

6 cups water
1 cup sugar
2 cups brandy
1 can (12 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice
1/4 cup bitters
EACH SERVING:
1/4 cup lemon-lime soda, chilled
Optional: Maraschino cherries and orange wedges

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, bring water and sugar to a boil. Cook and stir until sugar is dissolved; cool completely. Stir in brandy, orange juice concentrate, juice and bitters. Pour into a 3-qt. freezer container. Freeze overnight or until set., For each serving, scoop 3/4 cup slush into a rocks glass. Pour lemon-lime soda into the glass; serve with fruit as desired.

4 green or black tea bags
9 cups water, divided
2 cups brandy
1 can (12 ounces) frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
1 can (12 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
EACH SERVING:
1/4 cup lemon-lime soda, chilled
GARNISH:
Lime wedge, optional

Steps:

  • Place tea bags in a small bowl. Bring 2 cups water to a boil; pour over tea bags. Cover and steep for 5 minutes. Discard tea bags. Transfer tea to a large pitcher; stir in the brandy, lemonade concentrate, juice concentrate and remaining water. Pour into a 4-qt. freezer container. 5 cups boiling water
4 (2 g) bags green tea
1 cup white sugar
1 (16 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
1 (16 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate
2 cups brandy
1 (2 liter) bottle lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

Steps:

  • Steep tea in 2 cups boiling water for 10 minutes. Place remaining 3 cups boiling water in a 9x13 inch pan. Stir in sugar until dissolved. Stir in lemonade concentrate, orange juice concentrate, and brandy. Remove tea bags and stir tea into mixture. Freeze overnight.
  • To serve, scoop desired amount into glass, then fill glass with lemon-lime soda, and stir.

3 cups sugar
6 cups water
1 (46 fluid ounce) can pineapple juice
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
2 (12 fluid ounce) cans frozen orange juice concentrate
1 quart strawberries (fresh or frozen) pureed in a blender
2 cups rum, or to taste
2 (2 liter) bottles chilled lemon-lime soda

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, dissolve the sugar in the water by bringing it to a boil over medium-high heat. Turn off the heat and allow it to cool.
  • Combine the sugar water with the pineapple juice, lemonade, orange juice and pureed strawberries in a 6-quart container. Mix in the rum to taste. Put the entire mixture into a large plastic ice cream pail and freeze overnight.
  • To make the drinks to order, scoop 1/2 cup of the frozen mixture into an 8 oz glass. Fill the glass with lemon-lime soda and serve with a straw. Keeps well in freezer for up to one month.

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups butter, softened
3-3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
2-1/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 quarts vanilla ice cream, softened
EACH SERVING:
3/4 cup boiling water
1 to 2 tablespoons rum or brandy
Ground cinnamon and nutmeg to taste

Steps:

  • Cream butter and sugars until smooth. Beat in vanilla and ice cream. Store in freezer containers in freezer. To prepare buttered rum drink: Place 1/4 cup butter mixture in a 10- or 12-ounce mug. Stir in boiling water and rum. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg to taste.
