4 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1/4 cup chopped pecans
TOPPING:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Steps:

  • Place the apples in an ungreased 9-in. pie plate. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Top with coconut and pecans; set aside., To make topping, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder; gradually add to the creamed mixture until blended. , Drop small spoonfuls over apples. Bake at 350° until top is golden brown and fruit is tender, 25-35 minutes. Serve warm.

Macaroon top apple pie is a delicious dish which can be made at home very easily. The ingredients you will need for making this recipe are readily available and are mostly present at home.

Number Of Ingredients 17

All-purpose flour - 1-1/2 cups
Salt - ½ tsp
Shortening - ½ cup
Cold water - 2 to 3 tbsp
Filling -
Tart apples (sliced and peeled) - 4 cups
Sugar - ½ cup
Ground cinnamon - ¼ tsp
Topping -
All-purpose flour - ½ cup
Sugar - ½ cup
Baking powder - ½ tsp
Salt - ¼ tsp
Egg - 1
Butter (melted) - 2 tsp
Vanilla extract - ½ tsp
Flaked coconut - ¼ cup

Steps:

  • Add 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour and ½ tsp salt to a large mixing bowl, and stir the contents of the bowl until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  • Slowly cut in ½ cup shortening until mixture in the bowl becomes crumbly. Add 2 to 3 tbsp cold water gradually and simultaneously toss the mixture with a fork until it assumes the shape of a ball.
  • Preheat an oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • As the oven preheats, transfer the contents of the mixing bowl onto a flat surface and roll with a rolling pin until the pastry formed is big enough to fit a 9-in. pie plate; flute edges.
  • Mix 4 cups tart apples (sliced and peeled) and ¼ tsp ground cinnamon and pour the mixture into the crust. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.
  • Add ¼ tsp salt to a small mixing bowl. Mix the ingredients and then add 1 egg, 2 tbsp melted butter and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract; simultaneously stirring contents of the small mixing bowl.
  • Add in the last ingredient i.e. ¼ cup flaked coconut and carefully spoon mixture in the small mixing bowl over hot apples.
  • Your aim should be to cover the entire surface properly.
  • To complete the recipe, bake for another 30 minutes and check if the apples are tender. Keep on baking till that happens.
  • After the pie is made, let it cool on the rack for 15 minutes.
  • After then allow it to reach room temperature. Do not eat it hot, as the fillings can burn your mouth.

1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c crisco....i usually use buttered flavored
2-3 Tbsp butter
FILLING
4 c sliced peeled apples
1/2 c sugar
1/4-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
TOPPING
1/2 c flour
1/2 c sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg
2 Tbsp butter or margarine..melted
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 c coconut

Steps:

  • 1. In a bowl,combine flour and salt;cut in shortening until crumbly. Gradually add cold water,tossing with a fork until a ball forms. Roll out pastry to fit a 9 inch pie plate. flute edges.
  • 2. Toss apples with sugar and cinnamon;pour into crust. Bake in a preheated oven 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • 3. Meanwhile, combine the 1st 4 topping ingredients in a bowl. Stir in egg,butter and vanilla until smooth. Add coconut. Spoon over hot apples, carefully spreading to cover. Bake 30 minutes longer or until apples are tender.

This is an excellent and easy coconut macaroon pie to make! My family and friends all request it for our gatherings. This pie recipe was given to me when I needed a pie for a bake sale. I usually will triple this recipe and will be able to get 2 deep dish pies.

1 pastry for a 9-inch pie crust
1 ½ cups white sugar
2 eggs
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups sweetened flaked coconut
6 tablespoons butter, softened
½ cup milk
¼ cup all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Press pie crust pastry into a 9-inch pie pan.
  • Beat sugar, eggs, and salt together in a bowl until smooth. Mix coconut, butter, milk, and flour together in a separate bowl; stir coconut mixture into sugar mixture. Pour mixture into the pie crust.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Allow to cool completely for pie to fully set up.

My husband loves pies better than cakes so I try to find a lot of pie recipes to make for him. This is an interesting combination and he really liked it.

9" unbaked pie shell
4 c apples, peeled, cored & sliced
1 Tbsp self-rising flour
1/2 c granulated sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp butter or margarine
TOPPING:
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 Tbsp butter or margarine, melted
3/4 c shredded coconut
1 egg, beaten
1/4 c milk

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400. Rub a little egg white or milk on bottom of crust to prevent it from being soggy.
  • 2. Place apple slices in bottom of pie shell. Combine the flour, sugar & salt then sprinkle over apples. Dot with the tablespoon of butter and bake on 400 for 20 minutes.
  • 3. TOPPING: While pie is baking, prepare topping by combining the sugar, melted butter, coconut, egg and milk. Remove pie from oven and reduce temperature to 350.
  • 4. Spread topping on hot pie and return to oven. Bake @ 350 an additional 30 minutes or until pie is done.

Dough for single-crust pie
3 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) pitted tart cherries
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon red food coloring, optional
TOPPING:
1 large egg, room temperature, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons 2% milk
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1/2 cup sliced almonds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle; transfer to a 9-in. cast-iron skillet or deep-dish pie plate. Trim to 1/2 in. beyond edge of plate; flute edges. Bake 6 minutes; set aside. , Drain cherries, reserving 1 cup juice. Set cherries aside. In a large saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; gradually stir in cherry juice until blended. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir until thickened, 2 minutes. , Remove from heat; stir in cinnamon and food coloring if desired. Gently fold in cherries. Pour into crust. Cover edges loosely with foil. Bake at 400° 20 minutes., Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine first 6 topping ingredients. Stir in coconut and almonds. , Remove foil from pie; spoon topping over pie. Reduce oven to 350°; bake until topping is lightly browned, 15-20 minutes. Cool on a wire rack 1 hour. Chill 4 hours or overnight before cutting.
