SUNNY CITRUS COOLER

The sunny color of this refreshing punch matched the bright yellow sunflower decorations for my theme dinner. It's easy to stir up, too, which is good new because a few sips may quench your thirst, but your taste buds are sure to be asking for more. -Holly Joyce Jackson, Minnesota

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 can (46 ounces) pineapple juice
2 cans (12 ounces each) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
3/4 cup thawed lemonade concentrate
6 cups ginger ale or white soda, chilled
Orange slices, optional

Steps:

  • In a 1-gal. pitcher, combine pineapple juice, orange juice concentrate and lemonade concentrate. Add ginger ale and mix well. Serve over ice. Garnish with orange slices if desired. Refrigerate leftovers.

2 lemons , juice only
2 limes , juice only
1 lemon , thinly sliced
1 lime , thinly sliced
peach nectar
cloudy lemonade
a few sliced strawberry
sparkling water
mint sprigs

Steps:

  • Put the lemon juice and lime juice into a large jug. Add the sliced lemon and lime, and a handful of ice cubes. Add peach nectar to fill about one-third of the jug and top up to fill with lemonade.
  • Add the strawberries and top up with sparkling water and mint sprigs.

1/2 cup grapefruit juice
1/2 cup orange juice
1 to 2 teaspoons lime juice
1 cup ginger ale, chilled
8 ice cubes
Lime and orange slices, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the grapefruit juice, orange juice, lime juice and ginger ale. Serve in two chilled glasses over ice. Garnish with lime and orange slices if desired.

1 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup fresh orange juice
1 cup fresh grapefruit juice
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Ice cubes

Steps:

  • Stir 1 cup water and sugar in small saucepan over medium-low heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to boil. transfer syrup to pitcher and chill until cold. Add orange juice, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and lemon juice to pitcher and stir to blend. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Keep chilled.) Fill 4 glasses with ice. Pour citrus cooler over and serve.

1 l ginger ale (liter)
3/4 c lemon juice

  • 1. Make a simple syrup on the stove with the water and sugar then cool.
  • 2. Add the remaining ingredients and chill.

This recipe came from a summer issue of Bon Appetit. It is amazingly delicious! However, I will caution you, part of the reason it tastes like gold is because it is worth that after all the zesting and juicing. I will reiterate, try it at least once, it's delicious!

4 1/2 cups sugar
4 cups water
9 large lemons
4 oranges
9 cups carbonated water, approximately (such as Perrier)

Steps:

  • Bring sugar and water to a boil in a large pot over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  • Remove sugar syrup from heat.
  • Zest lemons and oranges, adding peelings to sugar syrup.
  • Juice fruits, adding to sugar syrup.
  • Let stand at room temperature for 6 hours.
  • Strain mixture.
  • Serve over carbonated water and ice.
  • (Will keep for 1 week).

3 cups fresh lime juice
3 cups fresh orange juice
crushed ice

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over high heat bring water and sugar to a boil, stirring until sugar disolves. Boil 3 minutes. Transfer syrup to a bowl or other container; cover; chill until cold (at least 3 hours but will keep for up to one week).
  • In a large pitcher mix together juices, 3 cups syrup and 3 cups water. ***can be made one day ahead; covered and chilled***.
  • Fill glasses with ice and pour cooler over.
  • ***Left over syrup is wonderful added to iced tea topped with mint leaves and lemon slices.
