Homemade Pork Rub and Seasoning Blend image

This Pork Rub Seasoning is a perfect blend of sweet and savory with plenty of room to customize to your taste.

Number Of Ingredients 10

½ cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp. smoked paprika
2 Tbsp. kosher salt
1 and ½ tsp. ground black pepper
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. ground cumin
½ tsp. cayenne pepper OR
½ tsp. red pepper flakes OR
½ tsp. chipotle powder

Steps:

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder stirring to combine completely.
  • If you like a blend that is a little has a richer, deeper flavor, add the chili powder and cumin.
  • For something with a little more kick, add cayenne OR red pepper flakes OR chipotle power.
  • For a richer, deeper, spicier blend, add the chili powder, garlic powder, cayenne OR red pepper flakes OR chipotle powder.
  • Transfer to an air tight container like a mason jar and store in a cool place.

  • Combine all the ingredients for the rub in a small bowl and stir with a whisk to mix. Rub onto the pork on all sides.

A wonderful rub for beef. Especially for quality steaks. I have given this as Christmas gifts. Either in 1/4 or 1/3 cup jars each.

Number Of Ingredients 10

6 tablespoons fine ground espresso coffee
2 tablespoons kosher salt
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
2 tablespoons spanish sweet paprika (or smoky)
2 teaspoons fresh coarse ground black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder (quality cocoa)

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients.
  • Store in an airtight jar away from heat and light.
  • Will keep up to 6 months.
  • Use 2-3 teaspoons per pound of meat.
  • For extra flavor, toast whole peppercorns, cumin & coriander seeds then grind them yourself.
