ITALIAN BEEF SANDWICHES



Italian Beef Sandwiches image

Number Of Ingredients 5

Beef Roast (Pot roast, chuck roast, sirloin roast, top roast, etc. Whatever kind you have, just not eye of round)
1 can beef gravy
1 bottle Zesty Italian Dressing
1 Onion, chopped
1-2 bell peppers, chopped

Steps:

  • Place roast in slow cooker and pour can of beef gravy over. Cover and cook on low 7-8 hours or high 3-4 hours.
  • Remove roast from slow cooker and discard juices. Shred meat and return to slow cooker. Pour bottle of dressing over meat and stir.
  • In large skillet, place onion and bell pepper. Sauté over medium high heat until tender. Stir into beef mixture.
  • Cover and place on warm until ready to serve. Serve on buns and top with mozzarella cheese.

1 (12 count) package Hawaiian bread rolls
1 pound shaved Black Forest ham
12 slices Gruyere cheese
1 (8 ounce) tub PHILADELPHIA Chive & Onion Cream Cheese Spread
½ cup butter, melted
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
½ tablespoon dried minced onion
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Cut all rolls in half. Place roll bottoms in 9x13-inch pan.
  • Place equal amounts of ham on each roll bottom. Top with Gruyere.
  • On each of the roll tops, spread a generous amount of the cream cheese spread. Return the tops to the bottoms making sandwiches.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the butter, Worcestershire sauce, onion and Parmesan cheese. Pour over your sandwiches and let sit for at least 20 minutes. (You can make these ahead of time and allow to sit in fridge overnight.)
  • Place sandwiches, covered in foil, in a preheated 350 degrees F oven. Bake for 20 minutes or until warmed through. Enjoy!

These sandwiches are great for a tailgate or party. This recipe was a top winner in the Real Women of Philadelphia competition and published in Taste of Home. Plan ahead, they do have to stand at room temperature for about 20 minutes.

12 hawaiian sweet rolls, split
1 lb black forest ham, shaved
12 ounces gruyere cheese, sliced
1 (8 ounce) container philadelphia chive & onion cream cheese
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons dried onion flakes

Steps:

  • Arrange bottoms of rolls in a greased 13x9 inch baking dish.
  • Layer each roll evenly with ham and Gruyere cheese.
  • Spread each roll top with cream cheese; place over Gruyere.
  • In a small bowl, combine the butter, parmesan cheese, worcestershire sauce and onion.
  • Pour over sandwiches; let stand for at least 20 minutes.
  • Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until heated through.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb sweet reduced-fat Italian sausage or 1 lb spicy reduced-fat Italian sausage
1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips
1 yellow bell pepper, sliced into strips
1 large onion, sliced
1 cup beer
6 submarine rolls
1/4 cup Dijon mustard (optional)

Steps:

  • In a large nonstick skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Slice the sausages in half lengthwise and add them to the skillet. Brown on each side for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the pan and keep warm.
  • Heat the remaining olive oil in the same skillet.
  • Add the peppers and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add the onion and continue cooking for 10 minutes, turning occasionally.
  • Return the sausage to the pan, add the beer and cook for 5 minutes or until the sausages are completely done.
  • Meanwhile, toast the rolls.
  • Place 2 sausage halves on each toasted roll and top with the peppers and onions.
  • Serve with Dijon mustard, if desired.
