Hot Dogs With Sauerkraut And Cheese Recipes

SAUERKRAUT AND HOT DOGS

Steps:

• Cut all ingredients to correct size.
• Add all ingredients except sour cream to the crockpot.
• Mix well and apply lid. Set the crockpot on low and cook for 6-8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
• 30 minutes before serving, add the sour cream, stir and replace the lid. This item is optional and adds a wonderful creaminess. Add salt and pepper to taste. Actually taste, because it will already be salty from the sauerkraut.

HOT DOG WITH SAUERKRAUT AND CHEDDAR CHEESE

Steps:

• Peel and finely chop onion. Sauté onion and sauerkraut in hot oil. Season with salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Toast bun in the oven.
• Lay cheddar slice on bottom half of roll and top with sauerkraut. Cook at 200°C (approximately 400°F) in a preheated oven until cheese melts.
• Meanwhile, cook hot dog in boiling water until warmed through. Place hot dog on top of sauerkraut and serve with mustard and pepper.
• Serve with a cold beer.

HOT DOGS, SAUERKRAUT, AND POTATOES

Steps:

• Boil peeled potatoes (cut in quarters) until tender but not mushy. Drain, and add to the pan the amount of sauerkraut for the number of people you've planned to feed. Also add hot dogs cut into 1 inch pieces. Heat everything, but watch carefully to avoid burning. Add butter if desired. We always ate this with mustard for the sauerkraut and hot dogs.
• The next day my mother would heat leftovers in a frying pan, letting the sauerkraut get brown.

SAUERKRAUT HOT DOG TOPPING

Steps:

• Combine all ingredients in a saucepan; cook on low heat until heated through. Serve over hot dogs.
