Number Of Ingredients 13

1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cans (21 ounces each) cherry pie filling
GLAZE:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 to 3 tablespoons 2% milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter, sugar and salt until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in extracts. Gradually add flour., Spread 3 cups dough into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Spread with pie filling. Drop remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over filling. Bake 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack., In a small bowl, mix confectioners' sugar, extracts and enough milk to reach desired consistency; drizzle over top.

1 cup butter (, softened)
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 large eggs (, room temperature)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
3 cups flour
2 cans cherry pie filling (, 21 ounces each )
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2-3 tablespoons whole milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 15x10 sheet pan with baking spray.
  • In a stand mixer, cream butter, sugar, and salt on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, then add extracts.
  • Gradually fold in flour to butter mixture until combined and dough forms.
  • Press 3 cups dough into prepared pan.
  • Spread with cherry pie filling covering all the dough evenly.
  • Drop remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over filling.
  • Bake 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Cool completely in pan before glazing.

2 pouches (1 lb 1.5 oz each) Betty Crocker™ sugar cookie mix
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 eggs
1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Spray bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, stir base ingredients until soft dough forms. Press half of dough in bottom of pan.
  • Spread pie filling over dough. Drop remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over filling.
  • Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 10 minutes.
  • In small bowl, stir glaze ingredients until smooth. If necessary, add additional milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle glaze over warm bars. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Store covered at room temperature.

Here's a simple to make square recipe that I sometimes make for the holidays. I have "excellent" written on the paper, so I know it's a keeper. This recipe differs slightly from the one already on 'zaar.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 cups corn flake crumbs
1/2 cup margarine, softened
3 tablespoons sugar
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
3/4 cup cherries, chopped (candied-red and green)
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup nuts, chopped (I like pecans)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350*. Lightly spray a 9" x 13" pan with cooking spray.
  • Combine the cornflakes, margarine and sugar in the pan. Press down tightly with the back of a spoon.
  • Sprinkle marshmallows, coconut and cherries evenly over the crust.
  • Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top.
  • Sprinkle the nuts over the milk, pressing into the mixture.
  • Bake @ 350* for 20-25 minutes. Refrigerate before cutting.

2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 cup cold butter
1 cup chopped walnuts
FILLING:
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup 2% milk
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Sliced red and green maraschino cherries, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in walnuts. Reserve 1 cup. Press remaining crumbs onto the bottom of an ungreased 13x9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes. , Meanwhile, in a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs; beat on low speed just until combined. Stir in the milk, lemon juice and vanilla. Pour filling over crust. Sprinkle with reserved crumbs. , Bake 25-30 minutes longer or until edges are lightly browned and filling is almost set. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into squares. Garnish with cherries if desired. Store in the refrigerator.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup maraschino cherry, drained well and then chopped (I put these in my mini chopper and it makes this task a lot easier)
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans but walnuts are also good)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Combine flour and powdered sugar.
  • With a fork or pastry blender, cut in the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Press firmly into a 9" square and ungreased pan.
  • Bake 10 minutes, set aside.
  • In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • Add eggs and beat well.
  • Stir in cherries, coconut and nuts.
  • Spread over crust.
  • Return to oven and bake 25-30 minutes until light golden brown.
  • Cool completely on a rack.
  • Cut into bars then sprinkle powdered sugar over the bars.
  • I cut these into small bars and put them in little foil cups.
