Calling all popcorn addicts! This herb popcorn is spiced up with butter and a mix of dried herbs, and works as a healthy snack or for entertaining.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/3 cup popcorn kernels
2 tablespoons butter (or coconut oil, for vegan)
1 teaspoon dried all herb mixture (for example, a mix of basil, rosemary, savory, tarragon, and thyme)
1 teaspoon nutritional yeast*
Fine popcorn salt (Tip: To make popcorn salt, crush kosher salt using a mortar and pestle)

Steps:

  • Pop the popcorn in an air popper or our Stovetop Popcorn method.
  • Meanwhile, melt the butter. Add the dried herbs and nutritional yeast; stir to combine. Pour the mixture over the popcorn, and sprinkle with popcorn salt to taste.

6 quarts (24 cups) popped popcorn (about 3/4 cup unpopped kernels)
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried chervil
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 can (12 ounces) mixed nuts, optional
Salt to taste

Steps:

  • Place popcorn in a large bowl or roasting pan. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Remove from heat; stir in herbs. Drizzle over popcorn and toss to coat., If desired, stir in nuts. Add salt to taste.

I found this easy snack recipe when looking for different ways to use garden herbs. Although I haven't made this yet I am planning on making this when rosemary is ready for use. Recipe source: Garden Guide 2004. Prep time includes 48 hours standing time.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup olive oil
1/2 cup unpopped popcorn
12 sprigs rosemary, cut into 6-inch long pieces
1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt, divided
1/2 cup pine nuts, optional
2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh rosemary

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a small saucepan over low heat for 3 minutes.
  • Add popcorn kernels, rosemary sprigs and 1 teaspoon salt to oil.
  • Remove from heat and let stand at room temperature for 48 hours.
  • Drain kernels, reserving 3 tablespoons oil, discard rosemary.
  • In a large dutch oven place the 3 tablespoons of reserved oil and add corn kernels.
  • Cover pan and cook for 4 minutes over high heat, shaking pan often (or corn will burn) until popping begins to slow down.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Let stand 2 minutes or until popping stops.
  • Place popcorn in a large bowl.
  • Add remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt, pine nuts (if desired) and chopped rosemary.
  • Toss.

4 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup sliced fresh chives

Steps:

  • Add the popcorn to a large bowl. Combine the butter and chives together. Drizzle the popcorn with the melted herb butter and season with salt and pepper.

SAVORY HERB POPCORN

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 tablespoons peanut oil
3 ounces popcorn kernels, approximately 1/2 cup
1/2 teaspoon popcorn salt
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh thyme leaves
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary leaves
3 tablespoons unsalted butter

Steps:

  • Place the oil, popcorn and salt in a large, 6-quart, metal mixing bowl. Cover with heavy-duty aluminum foil and poke 10 slits in the top with a knife.
  • Place the bowl over medium heat and shake constantly using a pair of tongs to hold the bowl. Continue shaking until the popcorn finishes popping, approximately 3 minutes.
  • Remove the bowl from the heat and carefully remove the foil. Stir in any salt that is on the side of the bowl. Sprinkle the herbs on the popcorn and gently stir to coat.
  • Melt the butter in the microwave. Slowly drizzle over the popcorn, while spinning the bowl. Stir to combine. Serve immediately.

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon rubbed sage
1/4 teaspoon celery salt

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs, milk and oil. Combine the flour, thyme, basil, sage and celery salt; add to egg mixture and mix well. Cover and let stand at room temperature for 45 minutes. Grease cups of a popover pan well with butter or oil; fill cups of two-thirds full with batter., Bake at 450° for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° (do not open oven door). Bake 15 minutes longer or until deep golden brown (do not underbake)., Run a table knife or small metal spatula round edges of cups to loosen if necessary. Immediately remove popovers from pan; prick with a small sharp knife to allow steam to escape. Serve immediately.

2 cups potato sticks
1 cup mixed nuts
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon dill weed

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the popcorn, potato sticks and nuts.
