1 1/2 lb raw ground beef or turkey
1/2 c club crackers, crushed
1 large egg
2/3 c evaporated milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 Tbsp mustard
1/2 c onion chopped
1 large french bread loaf
1 c shredded cheddar cheese or any other cheese you prefer

Steps:

  • 1. Pre-Heat oven to *350. Cut french bread into half, (length wise) put on cookie sheet.
  • 2. Mix together all ingredients and spread onto french bread. Put tinfoil around the edges of the bread leaving the meat exposed, cook for 45 min at *350.
  • 3. *****NOTE***** At the last 5-7 minutes,If you want a cheesier topping, place more cheese on top of your loaf, and cook till melted.

1 unsliced loaf French bread (1 pound)
1 pound ground beef
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 celery rib, chopped
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
4 slices American cheese, halved

Steps:

  • Cut off top of bread. Carefully hollow out bottom of loaf, leaving a 1/2-in. shell. Cut removed bread into small cubes; set aside. In a skillet, brown beef; drain. Add soup, green pepper, celery, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Cook and stir 3-4 minutes. Stir in the reserved bread cubes. Spread into bread shell; top with cheese. Replace bread top. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 6-8 minutes or until cheese is melted.

1 cup salsa
1 medium green pepper, chopped
2 cans (2-1/4 ounces each) sliced ripe olives, drained
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 loaf (1 pound) unsliced French bread
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the salsa, green pepper, olives, salt, chili powder, garlic and cumin. Remove from the heat. , Cut bread in half lengthwise; place on a baking sheet. Spread meat mixture over cut sides; sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 450° for 10-15 minutes or until cheese is melted.

3/4 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
1 small green pepper, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tube (11 ounces) refrigerated crusty French loaf
4 slices reduced-fat process American cheese product
1 large egg white, lightly beaten
3 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook the beef, onion and pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in the flour, mustard and ketchup; set aside., Unroll dough starting at the seam. Pat into a 14x12-in. rectangle. Spoon meat mixture lengthwise down the center of the dough; top with cheese slices. Bring long sides of dough to the center over filling; pinch seam to seal. , Place seam side down on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Brush with egg white. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. , With a sharp knife, cut diagonal slits in top of loaf. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

This is a big hit with everyone in my family! My brother beggs me to come over and make it for him often. It is very filling and the leftovers heat up well wrapped in tin foil and heated in the oven.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 loaf French bread
1 lb hamburger
1 can cheddar cheese soup
1 can tomatoes, chopped (I use Rotel)
1/2 cup celery, chopped (optional)
1 bell pepper, chopped
1/2-3/4 medium onion, chopped
1 -2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (or to taste)
6 -8 slices cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Cut loaf of bread in half, lenghtwise and hollow it out, (save the crumbs).
  • Brown hamburger and drain.
  • Mix all ingredients except cheese slices in a LARGE frying pan.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in bread crumbs and fill shell with mixture.
  • Cut cheese slices in half to make triangles and put on top.
  • Bake for 5-8 minutes at 350 degrees to melt cheese.

This makes a crisp chewy style hamburger bun that is delicious! I made this for fun and it is a family favorite now. If you like big burgers these buns will handle them well. They are fantastic as sandwich buns also. They make a mean ham and cheese! This is adopted from Failproof french bread recipe # 81211

Number Of Ingredients 5

500 g bread flour (4 cups)
5 g salt (1t)
7 g yeast, 1 (1/4 ounce package)
325 g warm water (1 1/2 cups)
8 ounces hot water, for spraying oven walls

Steps:

  • Place ingredients in bread maker according to manufacturer instructions. The water should be about 110*F.
  • Set the machine to dough cycle and start the machine.
  • When the dough is finished roll onto a floured surface.
  • Roll the dough to about an 1 1/4" -2 inch thickness (depending on how tall you want your buns.).
  • Flour a 3 1/2 inch cutter (I use a glass) and press straight down to cut out the bun.
  • Place buns on a greased baking sheet and cover with a tea towell for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  • Place buns in oven, then using a water bottle sprayer, squirt hot water all around the hot oven, but not near the light bulb. Wait 30 seconds and spray again, do this one more time and let the buns bake.
  • Bake for 15 to 18 mins (ovens vary in temp). Check halfway way through and turn the pan.
  • Cool on a wire rack and enjoy!
  • (Note) I have made these with a stand mixer with great success.

1/4 cup chopped onion
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato soup, undiluted
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 lb French bread
1 -2 tablespoon butter
8 ounces Velveeta cheese, sliced

Steps:

  • Cook hamburger and onion, drain grease.
  • Add soup and spices, simmer 5-10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, slice top third off bread, hollow out bottom half of loaf, leaving a 3/4-inch shell, save bread chunks, or feed to the birds!
  • Spread top slice of bread (cut side), with butter.
  • Place hollowed out bread on cookie sheet and broil till lightly browned.
  • Take out of oven and fill with meat mixture, top with cheese slices.
  • Place buttered top next to it, put back in oven at 350º; bake till heated through and top is toasted a little.
  • Put the top on, slice into wide slices for sandwiches, about 4-5 inches wide.
  • 4-6 servings.

1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound bulk pork sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1 large egg, beaten
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon fennel seed
2 tablespoons butter
1 garlic clove, minced

Steps:

  • Cut a thin slice off the top of the bread. Hollow out bottom half, leaving a 1/4-in. shell. In a food processor or blender, process bread crumbs until coarse; set aside 1 cup. (Discard remaining crumbs or save for another use.) , In a skillet, brown beef, sausage and onion; drain. Stir in reserved crumbs, cheese, egg, parsley, mustard, pepper, salt and fennel; mix well. 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons canola oil
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
3 to 3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Cornmeal
1 large egg white
1 teaspoon cold water

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, oil, salt and 2 cups flour. Beat until blended. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a stiff dough., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
