Do you love ham and beans, but don't have all day to cook them? Then you are going to love this Instant Pot Ham and Beans recipe! Simple and flavorful! No soaking required!

32 oz dried Northern or Pinto beans (rinsed and sorted)
2 cups leftover ham and meaty ham bone ( or 3 ham hocks)
4 tablespoons dried minced onions
salt and pepper to taste
water

Steps:

  • Place your ingredients in your Instant Pot and pour in enough water to cover your beans by about 2 inches
  • Cook at high pressure on manual for 60 minutes. Do not allow warming cycle to kick on.
  • Then use natural release for 15 minutes and switch to quick release.

2 pounds dry great northern beans
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 bay leaf
1 meaty ham bone
8 cups water
1 large onion, chopped
1 1/2 cups ham, in about half inch cubes

Steps:

  • Place onion, beans, ham bone and seasonings in instant pot. Cover with water.
  • Cook on high pressure for 1 hour, then quick release the pressure.
  • Remove bone and bay leaf.
  • Stir in chopped ham and pressure cook for another 5 minutes. Quick release the steam again.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning to your liking. Serve with cornbread or beer bread if desired.

1 package (20 ounces) [HamBeens® 15 BEAN SOUP](/products/ham-beens-original-15-bean-soup)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 large carrots, peeled and diced
2 stalks celery, diced
1 sweet onion, diced
7 1/2 cups chicken stock
2 cups cooked diced ham
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Turn pressure cooker to "saute" and add the oil to the pot. Once hot, add the carrots, celery, and onion and cook, stirring often, for 5 minutes.
  • Rinse and sort through the beans. Add to the pressure cooker along with the chicken stock. Set the seasoning packet aside for later.
  • Turn the pressure cooker off. Put on the lid and set the vent to "sealing." Set the pressure cooker to "high pressure" for 40 minutes.
  • Once the soup has reached pressure and cooked for 40 minutes, allow the pressure to release naturally - about 20 minutes.
  • Remove the lid carefully and stir in the seasoning packet, ham, black pepper, red pepper flakes. Taste and add salt if needed.
  • Stir well and let set for 5 minutes to allow the ham to heat through.
  • Serve hot. Sprinkle with fresh parsley as desired.

2 medium carrots, sliced
2 celery ribs, chopped
½ cup chopped onion
4 (15.5 ounce) cans great northern beans, rinsed and drained
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups cubed fully cooked ham
1 teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon minced garlic
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 bay leaf

Steps:

  • Turn on a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®) and select Saute function. Melt butter in the pot; add carrots, celery, and onion. Saute until vegetables are tender, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Add beans, broth, ham, chili powder, garlic, pepper, and bay leaf to the pot. Close and lock the lid. Select Soup setting according to manufacturers' instructions. Cook until flavors meld, about 30 minutes.
  • Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, 10 to 40 minutes.

This is one reason I love my Instant Pot®. I can pull a frozen ham from the freezer, put it in the Instant Pot® with just 3 ingredients and, with almost no effort, have dinner on the table.

1 (2 pound) frozen whole ham
1 (16 ounce) can crushed pineapple
¼ cup dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water, or as needed

Steps:

  • Place ham on a trivet and set it inside a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®). Pour crushed pineapple over ham. Sprinkle brown sugar and drizzle maple syrup on top. Secure the lid with vent closed.
  • Select high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 35 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
  • Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, 10 to 40 minutes. Remove ham and trivet. Cut ham into slices and place on a plate.
  • Select Saute setting on the pressure cooker. Mix cornstarch with water until smooth. Stir mixture into the pot, bring to a boil, and stir until thickened. Pour sauce over the ham.
