Grilled Shishito Peppers with Soy Aioli image

1 tablespoon sesame oil
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
20 shishito peppers
⅓ cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 clove garlic, minced

Steps:

  • Whisk together sesame oil, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Add shishito peppers and toss to coat. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Whisk mayonnaise, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic together in a small bowl. Refrigerate aioli until ready to use.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat. Toss shishito peppers in the marinade and transfer to a grill basket. Cook for 5 minutes, flipping peppers with tongs every 1 to 2 minutes to get an even char. Serve with aioli for dipping.

This grilled shishito peppers recipe is easy and quick to make, with the peppers marinated in sesame oil and soy sauce, for a spicy and salty appetizer.

1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp soy sauce
½ tsp finely grated ginger
½ tsp grated garlic
8 oz rinsed shishito peppers
to taste salt

Steps:

  • Whisk together the sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic in a large bowl. Add the shishito peppers and toss to combine.
  • Let marinate for 15 to 20 minutes, tossing occasionally.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and heat a grill pan.
  • Remove the peppers from the marinade, letting excess marinade drip back into the bowl.
  • Place the peppers on the grill pan and cook, tossing every 1 to 2 minutes, until evenly charred for 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Return the peppers to the bowl with marinade and toss. Sprinkle with salt, if desired.
  • Serve and enjoy.
