This easy green bean casserole has always been one of my favorite dishes. You can make it before any guests arrive and refrigerate it until it's ready to bake. -Anna Baker, Blaine, Washington

2 cans (10-3/4 ounces each) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 cup whole milk
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 packages (16 ounces each) frozen green beans, cooked and drained
1 can (6 ounces) french-fried onions, divided

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine soup, milk, soy sauce and pepper. Gently stir in beans. Spoon half of the mixture into a 13x9-in. baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the onions. Spoon remaining bean mixture over the top. Sprinkle with remaining onions., Bake at 350° until heated through and onions are brown and crispy, 30-35 minutes.

2 lb green beans, trimmed
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1 stick, divided
2 medium white onions, thinly sliced
1 ½ lb cremini mushroom, sliced and stemmed
5 cloves garlic, sliced
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 cup milk
½ cup heavy cream
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 cup chicken broth, or vegetable broth
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
1 cup fried onion

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400˚F (200˚C).
  • In a large pot of salted boiling water, blanch the green beans for 3 minutes, until tender and bright green. Drain and transfer to a 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) baking dish.
  • Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a large pan over high heat. Add the onions and cook for 8 minutes, until softened and translucent.
  • Add the mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes, until browned. Add the garlic and cook just until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Transfer the vegetable mixture to the casserole dish with the green beans. Wipe out the pan.
  • Melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter in the same pan. Add the flour and stir to combine. Cook until a golden brown roux forms, for 5 minutes.
  • Add the milk, heavy cream, salt, pepper, chicken broth, and Parmesan cheese, and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until the sauce is thickened, about 10 minutes.
  • Pour the sauce evenly over the vegetables in the casserole dish and toss until everything is well coated. Cover with foil.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes.
  • Top the casserole with the fried onions, then serve.

1 (16 ounce) package frozen whole green beans, thawed
4 slices bacon
½ medium onion, chopped
½ red bell pepper, seeded and diced
¼ cup dry white wine or vermouth
¼ cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 tablespoon soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup canned French fried onions

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Fry bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat until crisp. Drain on paper towels, crumble, and set aside. Drain most of the bacon grease from the pan, and place over medium heat. Add the onions and bell pepper; cook and stir until tender. Stir in the wine, scraping all of the bits of bacon from the bottom of the pan.
  • Mix in the butter, milk, soup, and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in the green beans and bacon until evenly coated. Fold in cheese, then transfer to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with French fried onions.
  • Bake uncovered for 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until heated through, and sauce is bubbly.

10 ½ oz cream of mushroom soup, 1 can
½ cup french fried onion
1 package frozen onion ring

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, mix together green beans, soup, and French fried onions.
  • Spray down a medium-sized baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray and arrange onion rings so that they are all 1.5-2 inches (4-5 cm) apart.
  • Using a spoon or spatula, scoop soup/green bean mixture into the middle of each onion ring, making sure to fill each ring evenly before placing another onion ring on top and repeating the process. (NOTE: Make sure to use the largest onion rings first as the base to your stacks, using the smaller rings later towards the top.)
  • Bake stacks at 350˚F (180˚C) for 18-22 minutes or until onion rings are crisp and golden and green bean mixture is bubbling on top.
  • Let cool for at least 5 minute before transferring to a plate to serve.

A new twist on your favorite holiday side dish! Simply pick up some store-bought crescent roll dough, and these cups come together in a flash. Don't forget to top them with French-fried onions for that signature crunch!

nonstick cooking spray, for greasing
1 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more for boiling
½ lb green beans, trimmed and halved crosswise
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
4 oz button mushroom, sliced
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon all purpose flour, plus more for dusting
⅓ cup vegetable broth
½ cup heavy cream
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tube store-bought crescent roll dough
¾ cup french fried onion

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick spray.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Prepare an ice bath in a large bowl and set nearby.
  • Add the green beans to the boiling water and cook for 4 minutes, until bright green and slightly tender. Drain the green beans, then transfer to the ice bath. Let cool, then drain and set aside.
  • Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add the mushrooms, season with the salt and pepper, and cook for 5 minutes, until lightly browned. Add the garlic and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until fragrant. Add the flour and stir until the mushrooms are coated and the flour begins to toast, about 2 minutes.
  • Add the vegetable broth and heavy cream and stir until fully combined. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, or until thickened.
  • Add the blanched green beans and cheddar cheese and stir to combine. Remove the pan from the heat and let the green bean mixture cool slightly.
  • On a lightly floured surface, unroll the crescent roll dough and pinch the seams together with your fingers. Roll out with a rolling pin into an even layer. Cut into 12 equal squares. Add each square of dough to a cup of the prepared muffin tin.
