I got this recipe on TV from Paula Dean. My husband and I couldn't wait to try it, and then we made it on one of our camping trips A great part of the fun of camping is the food in addition to everything else.

Ingredients

1 can of the large grands biscuits (or 2 cans depending on how many people you have with you
peanut oil

Steps:

1. open the can of biscuits and separate all of them
2. to make a hole in the center of each biscuit, use a bottle cap and push through in the center of each biscuit
3. you can also save the "holes" to fry
4. get your oil very hot and put some of the biscuits in the oil. I would probably fry about 3 or 4 at a time.
5. they will immediately puff up and look just like donuts
6. fry until brown and then turn over, but watch carefully so they don't burn. You also want to make sure that they are cooked inside
7. take them out of the oil and let them cool you can either sprinkle them with sugar, powered sugar, cinnamom and sugar combined or make a glaze to pour over
8. they are delicious!

Big, bakery-size doughnuts made from Pillsbury Grands biscuits. I have made lots with the regular-size biscuit, but they don't compare to these. Look and taste great! My husband said " Oh! you went to the bakery?"

Ingredients

1 (16 ounce) can Pillsbury Grands refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
9 cups oil, for deep fryer
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cinnamon
1 (16 ounce) can icing
candy sprinkles (optional)

Steps:

Cut holes in biscuits (I used a lid to a large salt shaker 1-3/8" in diameter, worked great).
Heat oil to 375°F.
Mix cinnamon and sugar. Use extra cinnamon if you want. You can also add nutmeg,if desired.
Drop 4 biscuits in deep fryer and cook with lid shut, about 3 minutes each side, or till brown as you like them.
Remove to paper towel-lined plate.
Roll immediately in sugar and cinnamon.
If you are going to ice them, wait till they cool, You can also use sprinkles on icing. Enjoy!

Pour oil into skillet to the depth of a little less than ½ an inch and heat on medium to medium high for about five minutes. In a bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar.
Using a small round cookie cutter, cut the center out of each biscuit. Drop dough into hot oil, watching carefully and turning when golden. Once doughnuts are golden on both sides, remove to paper towel lined plate. Repeat until all dough is cooked, including doughnut holes.

Crack open the can of Pillsbury Grand Biscuits and using a 1 inch hole cutter cut a hole into the center of each biscuit to create a donut.
Gently place no more than two donuts into the hot oil at a time. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, then turn and fry the other side.

In deep fryer or 2-quart heavy saucepan, heat oil over medium heat to 350°F. Separate dough into 8 biscuits. Using small round cookie cutter, cut hole in center of each biscuit.
Gently place 2 or 3 biscuits in hot oil. (Biscuit holes can also be fried!) Fry on one side until golden brown. Gently turn with tongs; fry until other side is golden brown. Place on cooling rack; cool 3 to 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, in small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until thick glaze forms. Remove half of the glaze to another bowl. Add 1 dot red food color paste to 1 bowl of glaze; stir until incorporated. Add more food color, if necessary, until desired pink shade is reached. Tint second bowl of glaze to desired shade with yellow food color.
Dip 4 doughnuts in pink glaze and 4 in yellow glaze. Return to cooling rack. Immediately top with sprinkles. Let glaze dry 2 to 3 minutes before serving.
