CINNAMON BISCUITS
These oven-fresh biscuits will disappear from your table as quickly as it took to prepare them! But you won't mind, because you can easily whip up another batch. Serve them with fried chicken, at breakfast or as a savory snack.

~ GRAM'S SWEET CINNAMON BISCUITS ~
When I make these biscuit type rolls, I always think of my Gram...she always made these for breakfast, when we spent the night with her. She would pour milk over top as soon as they came from the oven, and they were so good. My kids prefer plain or with glaze. Enjoy!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 400 degree F. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix well.
- Stir in vegetable oil. Add buttermilk and stir just until blended.
- On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough until smooth. Roll the dough into a 15 x 8 inch rectangle.
- Grease a 9 inch round baking pan. Spread the butter over the dough. Combine the sugar and cinnamon and mix well. Sprinkle evenly over butter. In jelly roll fashion, roll up the dough, starting from one long side. Pinch seam to seal.
- Cut the roll into 1 1/2 inch slices. Place slices side by side in prepared baking pan.
- Bake until lightly browned, or about 20 minutes. Remove from oven. Gram poured milk over the top of hers. I just leave mine plain or make a quick confectioners' sugar glaze. Serve hot and enjoy!
SWEET CINNAMON BISCUITS
This is a wonderful treat for the kids on a winter morning when you want cinnamon rolls but don't want to take the time to make them with yeast dough. Very tasty and tender. I didn't try them with the milk but I sure like them plain. I got this recipe from Grandma's Kitchen treasured desserts cards. I hope you like them as much as my family does.

Steps:
- Beat the butter, muscovado sugar, caster sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon together with an electric whisk for 2-3 mins until well-combined. Add the egg, flour, baking powder and raisins, if using, and continue to beat until the mixture becomes a uniform dough. Roll tablespoons of the dough into balls between the palms your hands (you should have 12-15). Chill in the fridge for at least 2 hrs until firm, or overnight. The unbaked dough balls will keep in an airtight container in the freezer for up to three months (see tip, below).
- Heat the oven to 180C/160C fan/ gas 4 and line two large baking trays with baking parchment. Place the dough balls 3-4cm apart on the prepared baking trays to allow the mixture to spread without touching. Bake for 10-12 mins until lightly golden at the edges but still soft and gooey in the centre. Leave to cool completely on the baking trays.
- Mix the icing sugar with the remaining cinnamon, then dust over the cookies. Will keep in an airtight container for up to five days.
