MY GRANDMA'S PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE



My Grandma's Peanut Butter Fudge image

This is just the way l love it!!

1 cup crunchy peanut butter
1 cup marshmallow cream
2 cups white sugar
⅔ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Mix together the peanut butter and marshmallow cream in a bowl; set aside. Lightly grease a square glass dish with butter.
  • Stir together the sugar and milk in a saucepan over medium-high heat; stirring occasionally, bring to a boil at 234 degrees F (110 degrees C) and then immediately remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter mixture and the vanilla; pour into the prepared dish and allow to cool to room temperature before serving.

This is the recipe my mother used. It's rather labor intensive, but it's the real thing. And completely worth it.

3 cups sugar
2/3 cup cocoa
1 1/2 cups milk
1 dash salt
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
walnuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Combine sugar, cocoa, milk and salt in a large sauce pan. Stirring often, cook to softball stage. Remove from heat and add the rest of the ingredients. Beat vigorously until the fudge loses it's gloss. Pour into buttered 8x8 pan and allow to set.

Been eating this fudge for 40+ years. After gramma could no longer make it I took over. Family tradition to always have this fudge at the holidays.

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 1/2 cups sugar
1 can evaporated milk
1/2 lb margarine
3 cups chocolate chips
2 (7 ounce) jars marshmallow creme
1 cup nuts, chopped fine (optional)
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 dash salt

Steps:

  • In large pan mix sugar, milk and margarine.
  • Boil until soft ball stage, about 8 minutes of a rolling boil.
  • Remove from heat and quickly add remaining ingredients.
  • Mix well.
  • Spread in 9x13 pan greased.
  • Let set.
  • Makes about 5 pounds.
