RUSSIAN TEA MIX

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE TEA

From Russia with Love Tea image

The most romantic and wonderful tea I have ever had was while I was in Russia. Russians love their tea! Tea time is anytime; morning, afternoon or dinner. Tea (or Chai as they call it) is served with sugar, honey or flavored jams. Sweet tea biscuits are served with the tea. It was one of my most memorable experiences while in Russia. It was a make time for "tea time" experience and you relished the moment sipping on your tea and chatting with one another. Breathing in that very moment of time and beauty that life gives you. I hope you can take a moment out of your day and sit down with family or friends and make some tea time and enjoy the company of one another. I am sure you will be glad you did. ....From Russia with Love Kim

RUSSIAN TEA
- your favorite teapot full of black tea
- teacups
- typically used jams would be strawberry, cherry or pear to flavor your tea
- honey
- sugar
- sliced lemons or a little milk
TO GO ALONG WITH YOUR TEA
- tea biscuits and/or pastries
- maybe even some russian music :-)
- a moment of silence
FAMOUS TEA QUOTES
- 1
- tea should be taken in solitude. ~~~c.s. lewis
- 2
- remember the tea kettle - it is always up to its neck in hot water, yet it still sings! ~~ author unknown
- 3
- a little princess...it's always tea-time... ~~~lewis carroll, alice in wonderland

Steps:

  • While in Russia on several mission trips I was blessed with such gratitude and expressions of love that I had never seen before. Some of the women who worked in the orphanages that we visited had saved money throughout the year to present us with Tea and Russian pie. To this day it was one of the most honored moments in my life that I have ever experienced. I shall never forgot their sacrifice of gratitude towards us.
  • The children are told at the orphanages that we are coming and they begin to pratice for an entire year to present us with song and dance. These children have no families so they feel really special that we are there to see them.
  • Here is a picture of the younger children who we also spent time with....aren't they all so beautiful?
  • Another "tea time" that we had at another orphanage. (It was really funny because most of us did not know that the jam that was sitting by the teapot was supposed to flavor the tea.)
  • Here we are in a family home having lunch and afterwards tea, of course.
  • In all the cities and people that I visited with while in Russia my heart was smitten in St. Petersburg.
  • I would have loved to had a Russian Teapot or Samovar to bring home with me but I choose this one tea cup and saucer (pictured to the left) in St. Petersburg's famous Lomonosov porcelain factory that was founded in 1744. As I take out my tea cup to have a cup of tea I am reminded of the special times I had in Russia just as I was doing so tonight I was prompted to write this recipe for you. I hope you enjoy. Dasvidaniya for now.

RUSSIAN TEA

Russian Tea image

I love this tangy beverage on a cold winter's morning when I want something tasty and hot, but don't want coffee! It makes a great gift from your kitchen, too! If calories are your concern, use an artificially sweetened orange drink mix, eliminate the sugar and sweeten to taste with sugar substitute.

GRANDMA'S RUSSIAN TEA

Grandma's Russian Tea image

I grew up drinking this tea at my grandmother's house. I now fix it at my house on really cold days, when I am sick (lots of vitamin C!), and at Christmas. It is perfect to let simmer on the stove to make the house smell good and to serve to guests. I have no idea why its called 'Russian' tea; that is just what my grandmother always called it. Use any tea you like. I've used regular black tea, decaf, and cinnamon spice, and it's all great. If using spiced tea, you may want to adjust the amount of cinnamon, cloves, and allspice. This is also great reheated!
