Number Of Ingredients 11

butter, for greasing
2 c. (heaping) cranberries
3/4 c. pecans, chopped (measure, then chop)
2/3 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
2 whole eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp. pure almond extract
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar for sprinkling

Steps:

  • *Adapted from a recipe by Laurie Colwin* Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Generously butter a cake pan or pie pan. Add cranberries to the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle on chopped pecans, then sprinkle on 2/3 cup sugar.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, 1 cup sugar, melted butter, eggs, almond extract, and salt. Stir gently to combine.
  • Pour batter slowly over the top in large "ribbons" in order to evenly cover the surface. Spread gently if necessary.
  • Bake for 45 to 50 minutes. 5 minutes before removing from oven, sprinkle surface with 1 tablespoon sugar for a little extra crunch.
  • Cut into wedges and serve with ice cream or freshly whipped cream.

FLUFFY BANNOCK
white meal,sugar, salt,milk, 4 eggs.

1/2 c cooked spaghetti
1 c scalded milk
1 c soft bread crumbs
1/2 c butter
1 tsp pimento
1 tsp onion juice (finely minced onion with water used)
3 eggs
1/2 c grated cheese (i used cheddar cheese)

Steps:

  • 1. Original recipe was not printed in the same order: But separate yolks from egg whites, and beat egg whites until stiff.
  • 2. Preheat the oven "to a moderate temperature"; this would be 350 degrees I think!
  • 3. Cooked spaghetti is called for, so if you have leftover spaghetti great, otherwise cook a small portion.
  • 4. Scald one cup milk.
  • 5. Mix together cooked spaghetti, bread, butter and cheese. Pour hot milk over this and add pimento, onion juice and slightly beaten egg yolks. Fold in carefully beaten egg whites and bake in moderate oven 45 minutes.

2-3/4 cups crushed ice cream sugar cones
2 tablespoons plus 1/2 cup sugar, divided
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup cold water
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 teaspoons butter flavoring
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/3 cup assorted sprinkles

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Combine crushed sugar cones and 2 tablespoons sugar with melted butter. Using the bottom of a glass, press cone mixture onto bottom and up the sides of a greased 9-in. deep-dish pie plate. Bake until set, 12-15 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack., Meanwhile, sprinkle gelatin over cold water; let stand 5 minutes. Beat cream cheese and remaining sugar until smooth. Slowly beat in cream, butter flavoring and extract. In a microwave, heat gelatin on high until melted, about 10 seconds; beat into cream cheese mixture. Fold in sprinkles; transfer filling to crust. Refrigerate, covered, until set, about 3 hours., Top with additional sprinkles.
