Time 35m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 egg
salt and pepper to taste
1 (8 ounce) wedge Brie cheese, cut into 1 inch cubes
½ cup dry bread crumbs
3 cups oil for deep frying
1 cup cranberry sauce

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk the egg with some salt and pepper using a fork. Place the bread crumbs in a separate bowl. Dip the cubes of Brie into the egg, then roll in breadcrumbs until evenly coated and well covered. Place the cheese cubes on a tray, and refrigerate for about 20 minutes, to firm up.
  • Heat oil in deep-fryer or heavy saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Fry the cheese cubes for 3 to 5 minutes, until deep golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon, and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with cranberry sauce for dipping. You can also make these before your guests arrive, and keep them in a warm oven.

FRIED BRIE BITES

Fried Brie Bites image

Better than fried Mozzarella, these fried brie bites are smooth, buttery, and impossible to eat just one! Serve with a raspberry dipping sauce for the perfect combination of savory and sweet.

Time 1h5m

Number Of Ingredients 1

For the Brie8oz wheel of Brie1 and 1/2 cups Panko breadcrumbs1 egg + 1 tablespoon water1/2 cup all purpose flour2 teaspoons garlic powder1 cup vegetable oil for fryingSalt For the Raspberry Sauce1 cup fresh raspberries1 tablespoon white sugar1 tablespoon water1 teaspoon white vinegar2 teaspoons corn starch2 teaspoons dark brown sugar

Steps:

  • Place the wheel of brie in the freezer for 20 minutes. While the cheese is freezing, get your bowls ready for the dredging. Add the flour to a bowl and add 1 teaspoon of the garlic powder and mix. In another bowl, whisk the egg with the tablespoon of water. And in the last bowl combine the Panko with the remaining 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
  • After the 20 minutes, remove the Brie from the freezer and remove the rind (you can leave on if you like it. I don't like texture of the rind so I cut it off). Dice the cheese into pieces, I made 28 bites. Coat each piece in the flour, then the egg, and lastly the Panko. Make sure to press the Panko into the bite so it sticks and there's a nice even coat all the way around. Place on a plate lined with parchment paper, place back in the freezer for 20 minutes.
  • While the cheese is re-freezing, make the raspberry sauce. Place the 1 cup of raspberries into a small pot over medium-low heat and mash with a fork. Add the white sugar and brown sugars and continue to mash until the raspberries have broken down completely. Mix the water with the cornstarch to make a slurry, pour into the pot along with the vinegar and cook for about 2-3 minutes, then pour into a bowl to let cool. If too thick, add a little more water to get the consistency you want.
  • To begin frying, heat the oil in a large pan over medium high heat. See post for detailed description of how to know when the oil is ready for frying! To fry, add about 6-7 brie bites into the oil at a time, cook 20 seconds, flip each bite, then cook another 20-30 seconds. The total frying time should not exceed 1 minute. Repeat until all brie has been fried, sprinkle all the brie bites with salt. Serve with the raspberry dipping sauce and enjoy!

Provided by Ree Drummond : Food Network

Categories     appetizer

Time 35m

Yield 24 pieces

Number Of Ingredients 10

Two 4- to 5-ounce wheels Brie cheese
3 tablespoons dried cranberries, finely chopped
3 tablespoons shelled pistachios, finely chopped
All-purpose flour, for dusting
One 8-ounce sheet refrigerated crescent dough
1 large egg, beaten
1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary, plus whole sprigs, for garnish
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
Honey, for drizzling

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cube each wheel of Brie into 12 pieces. They do not need to be perfect cubes. Set aside.
  • Mix the cranberries and pistachios together in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Lightly dust a cutting board with flour. Unroll the crescent dough (it should be an 8-by-12-inch sheet) onto the dusted surface. Using a knife, cut 4 lines down the 8-inch side and 6 across on the 12-inch side to get 24 squares.
  • Place a cube of Brie in the center of each dough square. Sprinkle about 1/2 teaspoon of the pistachio and cranberry mixture over the top of each cube of Brie. Fold the corners of each square together, lightly pinching to seal everything in. Transfer the bites to the prepared baking sheet.
  • Whisk together the egg and 1 tablespoon water in a small bowl and brush the top of each bite with the egg wash. Sprinkle each with a little rosemary and a bit of sea salt. Bake until golden brown, 12 to 14 minutes. Let cool for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Carefully transfer the bites to a serving platter. Scatter the pomegranate seeds around the bites, drizzle with honey and frame the platter with rosemary sprigs for color and festive fun. Enjoy!

FRIED BRIE STICKS WITH BLUEBERRY BOURBON JAM RECIPE BY TASTY

Fried Brie Sticks With Blueberry Bourbon Jam Recipe by Tasty image

Take snack time to the next level with these fried Brie sticks! Creamy Brie cheese is cut into sticks, coated in crushed butter crackers, and fried to golden brown perfection. Double-coating the Brie sticks helps ensure no cheese escapes during frying, while freezing the breaded sticks prior to frying helps them hold their shape. Serve with homemade blueberry bourbon jam and bacon jam for the perfect savory-sweet balance.

Provided by Tikeyah Whittle

Categories     Sides

Time 1h10m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 cup blueberry jam
¼ cup maple syrup
¼ cup water
3 tablespoons bourbon
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
1 pinch freshly ground black pepper
2 wheels brie cheese
60 butter crackers
3 large eggs, beaten
1 cup all purpose flour
4 cups vegetable oil, for frying
kosher salt, to taste
Bacon Jam

Steps:

  • Make the blueberry maple bourbon sauce: In a small saucepan, stir together the blueberry jam, maple syrup, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Add the bourbon and continue simmering for 1-2 minutes, until the alcohol cooks off. Remove the pot from heat and stir in the vanilla, salt, and pepper. Set aside until ready to serve. If making ahead of time, cover and refrigerate for up to 1 month. Re-warm before serving.
  • Make the Brie sticks: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cut each Brie wheel into ½-inch-wide sticks. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet and refrigerate while you prepare the breading station.
  • Add the butter crackers to a food processor and process into fine, uniform crumbs. Transfer to a wide, shallow bowl.
  • Add the eggs and flour to 2 separate wide, shallow bowls.
  • Dredge each Brie stick in the flour to coat completely. Coat in the egg, ensuring there are no visible dry spots, then roll in the cracker crumbs to coat. Dip again in the eggs and cracker crumbs. Freeze the Brie sticks for at least 30 minutes, up to overnight.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a wide, shallow pan over medium heat until the temperature reaches 375˚F (190˚C). Set a wire rack over a baking sheet.
  • Working in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan, fry the Brie sticks in the hot oil until golden brown, 1-2 minutes. Transfer to the wire rack and immediately sprinkle with salt.
  • Serve the Brie sticks hot with the warm blueberry maple bourbon sauce and bacon jam alongside for dipping.
  • Enjoy!
