Machine-Felt Sweater. Launder sweater in hot water on your washing machine’s “normal” setting, using an amount of detergent proportionate to load size—the detergent aids in the felting process.
Trim Sweater Seams. Using shears, cut along both sides of the sweater’s seams to produce two easy-to-work-with pieces of felted wool.
Arrange Pattern and Cut Out. Download pattern template available below), cut out desired size, and arrange pieces on the sweater according to desired layout, lining up the palm piece and back piece with the sweater’s hem.
Pin and Stitch Together Palm Pieces. With insides facing together, align each mitten’s finger and palm pieces with the thumbs pointing up. Pin in place.

Sew the sweater pieces of the mitten to the fleece pieces. Sew a stitch around each part of your mitten to attach the sweater pieces of your mitten to the fleeces pieces.
Sew Your Mitten Together. After your sweater pieces are sewn together with your fleece pieces. You will sew your mitten together. Start by pinning your pieces right side together.
Place your cuff on mitten & Sew to mitten. With your mitten inside out. Place the cuff on the mitten and sew the unfinished edge to the bottom of your mitten.
Secure the cuff to the sweater mitten with a large button. The last step is to take a needle and thread and secure the cuff in place. This will keep the unfinished edge from showing.
