FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE

Steps:

• Take the one interested JAP cook to Franklin, TN and start the adventure.
• Start searching for the JAP location without success. However, received info on how to get to THE VIKING STORE.
• Get back in the truck and drive around the circle and take the next right. Head for the tower and you'll find THE FACTORY. The Viking Store is located inside this antique mall.
• Enjoy talking with the clerks in The Viking Store. Look around at all the items that you wish you had in your kitchen. Take pictures of interest. The people here are so nice and friendly.
• Head back to Murfreesboro to the Suites where we had our room. Since it was the first part of our second week...it was laundry time. UGH. But I did enjoy my brief day in Franklin. 6/28/13

TENNESSEE WHITE BEANS

Steps:

• RINSE and soak the beans according to the package directions.
• HEAT the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and celery and cook until tender, about 10 minutes.
• DRAIN the beans and combine them with the vegetables, ham, and 6 cups of water in a medium or large slow cooker (at least 4 quarts). Cook on high for 4 to 6 hours or on low for 8 to 10 hours, until the beans are tender. Stir occasionally, and add water as necessary. Season the beans with salt to taste.
